Should probably go in the Bad Opinions thread lol, but Ain't It Fun is my least favorite. And it's the only Paramore song I would even classify as disliking but I just borderline can't stand it
I don’t know if it’s my least favorite, but it’s wildly overrated. Although, I think it won them a Grammy, so what the fuck do I know.
I was a big fan back in the day but a lot of the stuff across their first three albums is extremely dated now, but each album has been increasingly better about it. They truly are much better as a “pop” band than a pop punk/scene band. And in general I really don’t care for their acoustic songs
The choir in “Ain’t It Fun” is a bit corny, as is basically any choir in a rock song. But it’s still one of their best songs so it’s forgivable
"ain't it fun" is one of the ice-coldest pop songs, the choir just adds to that. the gang's all here to tell you things are not going to improve so quit crying lol
Quick takes: Pool is elite tier paramore Don’t like grudges at all but it’s better than caught in the middle and hard times The go crying part of ain’t it fun is silly and I don’t like it but it’s still top tier paramore Careful and Feeling Sorry might be my favorite on BNE, love the guitars and angst The chorus of playing god is also silly but the rest of the song is incredible
I’m the opposite haha, verses of Pool are great and the chorus is the weakest part of the song. Still a fantastic song
The “god knows the world doesn’t need another band” part of Looking Up is so corny, but the song is okay. Ain’t It Fun is a classic, the choir is neither nor there imo. Grudges is easily the worst on AL but it’s grown on me
Grudges is sweet because of the lyrical content - the reunion of Hayley, Zac, and Taylor warms my heart. Musically, the song is a bit of a let down Pool is gorgeous. Again, it’s elevated by lyricism and Hayley’s delivery, those verse melodies are stunning I’m very much a vocal + lyrics person so I do understand if people totally disagree lol
Ain't It Fun either in spite of or because every time I hear it for a split second I'm like is this Cruel Summer by Bananarama
I just heard Ain't It Fun so much back when it came out that even to this day I don't have much desire to go back to it
I mean if we're talking corny let's address the elephant in the room - the chorus of Thats What You Get is absolute cheese. Don't get me wrong, adore the song, but that chorus 100% sounds like it was written by teenagers where the rest of the songs doesn't imo.
