I feel like I want to do a bit where I pretend that you guys are talking about the Polyphia song but I don't want everyone to get mad at me.
Hayley's vocals and melodies on Playing God make that song for me. The verses in particular are so good.
Playing God is one of least favorite Paramore songs tbh. Verses are kinda meandering and tuneless, but then the Chorus is super bouncy and poppy, but also kind of cheesy? Either could be okay in their own song if elaborated on properly, but they're just kinda meh as their presented.
I'm honestly so dumb. This tour announcement made me finally deal with the fact that my Amex card hasn't worked for nearly a year despite my account having no holds on it. I keep not calling and never use it and it bugs me in the back of my mind but I never deal with it. I wanted to ensure my presale works for tickets so I called support and he was nicely like yeah you haven't used your card in almost a year like try using it again I can't help u with no transaction info. Then basically we figured out I'm a gigantic idiot and tried using it at winco which doesn't even accept credit cards. I swear I had tried using it online too but I must've typed the card info wrong coincidentally after the winco transaction and convinced myself it didnt work. Because it does work. And has worked the entire time. So thanks Paramore for making me realize I can use my credit card. Wtf.
I heard “Franklin” for the first time close to when I moved away from my home state. It really hit that feeling leaving and knowing when you come back everything will be completely different for you, if not the place. And it’s wild that it was written at the start of their career. Feel like it takes a whole new context with all they’ve been through since then. I’m not the biggest fan of AWKIF, but it has some gems that feel way beyond the maturity of a bunch of youngins.
AWKIF has a huge spot in my heart as it’s the only album besides AL that has a consistent tone/atmosphere/mood when looking at the album as a whole. The other 3 have a wide array of styles, which is cool, but every song on the (current) bookend albums feel like they undoubtedly belong on their records.
Also, fuck the haters, The Only Exception rules EDIT Also their performance of it on Ellen was so good
I struggle to get through some of her more uh demonstrative love songs tbh, probably helps explain why AL is my fave (there are almost none off the top of my head)
Playing through BNE rn and the only songs I dislike are Playing God, Feeling Sorry and Looking Up. The rest is very solid
Now onto AWKIF and Emergency, Conspiracy, and My Heart are still fantastic All We Know Is Falling is such a weird opener for that album. It feels like another song was supposed to fade into it
Their debut was always easily my least favorite of theirs but it reeeeally grew on me when I was prepping for WWWY this year (which never happened )
It's 80 degrees outside in November on my birthday but I'm indoors listening to Paramore. What is wrong with me?
