Every time I read the album title I hear, "That is whyyyyyyyy.... you'll never, ever, in a goddamned millenium, beee myyyyyyyyyy..... girrrrrrrrrrl."
When they said they were going this album was going to be hard this is not what I was thinking but this is great nonetheless
as a testament to Zac's drumming skill/my lack thereof, i recently took up drumming again for the first time in 6 years. trying to get some of these patterns down has proved to be rather difficult, lol.
I'm starting to think the random "glitches" that have been happening are 100% on purpose as a metaphor for communication in the modern world with the pandemic and such being a total shit show and the lyrics about "This is why I don't leave the house". After the 5 minute "chat / intro" with the band before the video premiere where the audio was muted the entire time, and when they went live on Instagram for half a second, all of that seems calculated. That's badass.
Yeah, I’m good off Blink, unless Tom is involved but even then.:: meh Paramore and Turnstile sounds great though!
I found this interesting in the LA Times article: "Paramore will co-headline the fest with another essential emo group, My Chemical Romance. Yet there’s a catch: They may have to perform at the same time on opposite stages. “They want war!” jests Williams, a longtime MCR fan. “We did not think there was going to be the kind of demand there is. We’re careful about how we engage with nostalgia; five years ago we would have said ‘absolutely not’ to this. But I think it’s significant that we feel confident enough to maintain the journey that we’ve been on and celebrate with these fans.” and "The band absorbed the sounds of U.K. acts like Radiohead and Bloc Party, says their L.A.-based producer Carlos de la Garza; the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 1985 funk-punk LP, “Freaky Styley,” also played a pertinent role during the recording process." As emo nostalgia crests, Paramore returns, with a new sound and a healthy outlook
Good. They deserve it. They've worked their asses off this past year and should reap the benefits as such. I knew when I saw them at 1,400 cap room recently that it was the last time I'll see them in a venue that size.
First 20 seconds sound like an intro from a ‘Piper at the Gates of Dawn’ track. Solid chorus. Really wish I collected vinyl because that green one is hot.
Hayley sounds freaking good. And Zac, and Taylor. Definitely has the Halfnoise influence. Everyone just being themselves really. Also maybe I'm just still thinking about the comments about the Bloc Party influence, but I does remind me of some mid-2000s indie rock for sure.
Yea I'm like 4 listens into this and completely sold on the chorus, also can't understand people saying this doesn't feel like Paramore lol. Like I see the Petals For Armor influences but merely as an enhancement for Paramore's sound and not that it feels like Hayley's thing
It sounds like Paramore but I'm also stuck in the past and anything that doesn't sound like Riot isn't Paramore.
I've listened to this too many times already. I'm already so sold on whatever the rest of the album sounds like. Really excited to hear how this sounds live in a few weeks.
