Yeah for real, not to down play the situation but I had no idea and I would consider myself very online. Just because people go on Twitter, Instagram, whatever, doesn’t mean they have seen everything that’s going on in the world, pop culture, etc. The invite probably stems from the video of Lil Uzi Vert jamming to Ain’t It Fun on Twitter from years ago. He’s also signed to a record label that’s associated with Atlantic according to google.
FYI floor prices are dropping for Cleveland, I think a little below face value on SeatGeek. Toronto has face value floor available right now as well
I know who Lil Uzi Vert is, but I genuinely have no knowledge of him outside of that - including any allegations.
It’s a weird look, especially with the band’s socials posting and tagging him and fans calling it out. Benefit of a doubt, they’ve been basically teflon. They were recently on the Kid’s Choice Awards and Wrestlemania. Even when it was announced about their abuse, that got glossed over with “Lil Uzi Vert is buying a planet!” Nothing sticks to them and it could have been an oversight by the band.
I just don't get it, ignorance (get it?) isn't really an excuse when you can Google a human in a second. Paramore brought an abuser to stage with them, and seemingly no one cares, very surprising from the specific fanbase
Beyond the name Lil Uzi Vert, I know nothing about them, can’t name a single song and hadn’t heard about any allegations - and that’s while working as a music journalist. I apologise for my ignorance, but if I didn’t see anything in my line of work, I can see how Paramore didn’t either
It does not matter if you know someone, you have nothing to do with anything on this scenario, your trying to pull some weird "if I don't know them then they're not famous" bullshit. Again, stop being dense, you're smarter than this.
That’s not my point at all. My point is that, I don’t know how you want this thread to react when a lot of us clearly have no idea who they are. Not because they aren’t famous, but they clearly don’t really pop up in what we pay attention to. I don’t know who they are. And that’s okay. It’s possible the band didn’t know about the issues they have. It looks bad either way, to be fair. I just fail to see what you want any of us to do or react to it. Sounds like they’re a shitty person and it sucks the band welcomed them to their stage/platform. But what do you want? It’s easy for a lot of us to just move on because we have no clue who that is. You can say that’s bad, and it probably is. But again, what do you want from this thread?
It's called accountability, it would be nice to see the band be held accountable and say they fucked up and they'll do better, it's a pretty simple answer. It would be nice for this thread to care that an outspoken band brought an abuser to perform with them.
I think anyone would agree that’s shitty. It is shitty. They fucked up, ignorant of it or not. What does this do? Should I stop listening to the band? Should I let my expensive ticket to their show this month go to waste? I don’t see how this thread is the place for some bigger movement on this. It sucks it happened. I still don’t see what you want this thread to do.
Why are you being so weird, I just think fans should care, it's very simple. There's pages of "OMG they said they wouldn't play misery business but they did!!!" so maybe even just a little "maybe the band shouldn't be giving this person a platform" would be nice to see. Just give a shit.
I think anyone in this thread and any thread on this site would agree that it sucks when a band we like does something shitty or questionable.
Why do you expect everyone who reads this thread to post that? You’re the one being weird with this expectation. I’ve said multiple time it is shitty. So you shouldn’t have a problem with me. Do you really think every poster needs to post “this sucks?” Or can they read it and just think it? Do you not see how this is weird to demand or people?
Great, so bring that energy here like you do for every other tiny thing the band does instead of just ignoring it. Again, seems pretty simple and obvious to show you care
It's not a hard concept. I'm not demanding. I'm saying over and over again, it's disappointing that it was glossed over by a fanbase that I would expect to care
