Now that there are dozens of examples of why bands shouldn’t include their band members in album art … can we please just stop? I prefer art without band pics
EDIT: Got confused and just realized they were talking about the older record and NOT their upcoming one. So I guess my comments below are still somewhat valid. This news is very weird because last night I was listening to Valley's EP from a few years back (high recommend it if you haven't heard it) and I laughed at the similarity of the art direction of both band's covers. (AKA - face pressed up against glass). There's no way that that is why they changed the cover, but a funny coincidence none the less.
in the industry those albums with artist photos ALWAYS outsold albums with original artwork. (Not sure if the case anymore since physical media doesn't sell like it used to but that's why)
Honestly, I don't really spin this album so I never would have noticed, but if they're happy with it then right on.
Fingers crossed none of you have to stumble upon facebook groups or posts with comments saying everything there has been said in the past 15 years about Paramore etc., just wow, blew my mind ehh.
Years ago ex-bassist sued the band over royalties or songwriting credits or something along the lines of that, so I’m assuming that’s why they changed it since he is on the cover and not in the band anymore
The band is active again now. Touring, releasing new music. I think it would’ve been even weirder if they did it when they were inactive ya know?
