Think this may be a grower for me. I didn't like most of this on first listen but a few more times through and I'm digging it a lot more.
My wife and I were talking earlier about how it sounded like Haim as well. Where cab we mail your royalty check??
Just spend it on buying the album. Let's combat some of these poor sales predictions people are making.
Done deal (as soon as the vinyl is up for preorder). Also, bummer about low sale predictions, hadn't heard that. Sucks cuz the album is great.
I think it's just speculation (mostly in this thread) from people who don't like the album much and are predicting others won't either.
Ah. Yea I lost about 20 pages of this thread when the leak hit. I think they'll do just fine, guess we will see. Definitely a must have in vinyl for me.
i'm friends with maura and i can tell you this is not the case with her. she was one of the first critics to really throw in for fob also
First half is stronger than second "No Friend" sucked in my car, couldn't hear a damn thing Aaron was mumbling and even on headphones I hear almost nothing. Music is interesting though so this is just an "intro" type track but feels weird on here for placement and reason Favorites so far are "Hard Times", "Caught in the Middle" and "Grudges" "26" is meh at best to me "Idle Worship" ain't doing much after half a dozen listens, and this seems to be a big favorite for most so far
That (kinda) sucks (kinda because it is just music after all and one album out of millions), was there anything you really liked / stood out to you?
It actually says a lot about a solid record if this many people have different favorite (and least favorite) tracks.
Currently, I doubt I'll ever like any song more than I've liked the two singles, "Hard Times" and "Told You So." There are some songs I also liked, for sure: "Rose Colored Boy" "Fake Happy" "26" "Tell Me How." I think I really liked the bridges of "Pool" and "Caught in the Middle," but throughout the album Zac did a lot of drumming I didn't like and there are some tropical vibes that really kill me. A lot of this gets pretty nit-picky into my own personal tastes and pet peeves, but this album (especially in the back half) incorporates a huge number of my personal pet peeves -- which is ridiculously frustrating. I don't expect anyone else to understand this reference, but the album as a whole ended up reminding me a lot of One Direction's Four, haha.
Definitely. Always worries me when it seems universal a favorite song on an album because then it's like, "damn, what about the rest?" Haha
I get that if there's more personal nitpicky things that turn you off from the album. There's always been something about Paramore albums that I don't quite connect with all the way back to their first album and totally different styles ago but that "something missing" still exists. Just one of those things I guess that we all have to some extent for some artists
I wish I could hear the "rockier" version of Caught in the Middle they were originally working on, even though it wouldn't fit the album.
