Aaron is way too low. I get why they would do that and what they were going for but they went too far with it. Just like a few decibels higher nothing major would've made a big difference. Like you can't even really make out syllables or any real words at all.
For real, I can't even imagine having to condense my thoughts on this right now. Godspeed though and highly anticipate getting your unique insight/perspective on this especially with all of the different influences that they play with here
yea, but once he starts yelling you can make out what hes saying a bit more.. anyway I'll just memorize the lyrics and sing along with it haha
wondering if the official release will sound any different, but based on what Jason was saying it seems like an intentional choice
I'll have to listen on some speakers, in my headphones it comes in pretty clear when he starts yelling. I do wish he was louder as well though, but to me its just so cool that its even on there haha
This is way better than self titled which was by far their best until now. I love this a lot it's gonna be the perfect summer album just like self titled was in 2013
Also very emotional about hearing Zac sing on the "why did it take so long" part in Grudges with Hayley considering the lyrical content :')
I'm in a car so maybe that's affecting it but either way like I said I get what they were going for but if he cut through just a tiny but more I think it'd be more effective
I can definitely agree with that, I wonder if the label asked to keep him lower in the mix... those types of things do happen from time to time.
I'm enjoying the new record but it feels like they just missed the mark, or at least a little more than they ever have before. Also, I feel like these are the saddest lyrics Hayley has ever written... she and the band as a whole seem really down despite the upbeat nature of most of these songs. When the songs hit, they hit though. I don't think I'll like this as much as Brand New Eyes or S/T (my high water marks for them) but I like it as much as Riot! so that's promising. I feel like it will grow somewhat with me. I totally agree that I wish Aaron's vocals were higher, but it is what it is. Also, show me another band that can go from full out heavy post-rock (Futures) to this '80s schtick. Paramore gets major points for mostly pulling off a complete creative overhaul. Tracks I wish were just a little more developed/experimental: Forgiveness Grudges Rose-Colored Boy
