It's never too late to join the fake happy club friend, welcome. I would also recommend watching the music videos they've put out during this cycle cause they've been great.
New (amazing) interview with Hayley about life, divorce, and her mental state: hayley williams - l'odet
The truth is there are two parts to the band. One part is what you wear on a t-shirt, which is basically the name. And the other part is the band, which is us! And the band is what it’s about. I told Zac that if all three of us feel good about it, we do it. In moving forward, if the three of us are happy, then we will just do whatever we want to do. This, this, this!! I've loved these individuals for 13 years not only because of the band, Paramore, but because I genuinely love and care for them all as people. And I just want them to be happy, whatever that means! If that meant Paramore had to be left behind, it would have broken my heart, but at the end of the day their happiness should be the most important thing. The fact that Zac came back and this band is still going, despite everything, just makes every time I see them a richer and deeper experience. As long as we’re friends, the band just is. It’s just in us. And I feel this way as a fan. The band, Paramore, does not have to exist for what they've given me to still go on. In some ways, they've given me my life - quite literally, in that there were days this band was my only reason to go on living. This band has always felt like less of a fandom and more of a community, and I carry that with me every day - because there are ways in which my life was entirely changed by the people and opportunities I encountered because they exist. The honesty in this interview is so refreshing. It feels like Paramore went on autopilot for so long, and the pain they each hid is so hard to confront as a fan. Thank you Hayley for your openness on your femininity, mental health, divorce, and struggles, you are truly deserving of every great thing you experience.
I've read the interview through the day and it is a very open and honest perspective. I am very thankful Hayley chooses to share her life with us even when she doesn't need to - I'm also glad that she's doing that at her choosing now (as she says here) not because she's pressured to do something else. It is interesting to read that at the time of After Laughter's release she was living in the empty house and things were that low. I knew the divorce was finalised a few months after, but I got such a free feeling from her were AL came out that I had no idea she was in such a hard place. The freedom, from this interview, definitely seems to have come from being at peace with the band relationships rather than her personal life. Regardless, a great interview. Can't wait to see what this band does next as After Laughter was another level for me.
@K0ta summed up most of my thoughts but i will also add my very succinct review of this interview which is "u ever just cry and be thankful for someone"
Not to take away from the great content of the rest of the interview but: WTF Stay the Night was written by Nate Ruess??
I feel like that came out around the time she joined them for that Gotye cover, so that would also make sense for how she got picked! (Plus the labelmates aspect)
I'm guessing "Benjamin Eli Hanna" is the fake name Nate used as it doesn't look like that person exists / has written anything other than "Stay the Night"
actually wait they have credits on something from an animated movie and an icona pop song soooooo forget it lol
so these are the only credits for "Benjamin Eli Hanna" other than "Stay the Night" I can't find anything truly confirming he is "Benjamin Eli Hanna" There is a Nate Ruess tumblr that claims he wrote all these songs, but again not an actual source Hanna doesn't seem to be a real person though, and I can definitely hear those songs as being Ruess co-writes so
The more I look into it, the more I think it's Nate for sure. It's honestly so easy to picture him singing that song.
More here: Paramore ♚ on Instagram: “why did she come for me like this photos by @lindseybyrnes ✨” I want to frame every photo and be surrounded by them for all time because they are just too powerful
I'd just like to point out I was very early on the "these twitter brands are way too much" bandwagon.
