The first half is my favourite part of the album and one of my favourite things they've ever done. Second half is pretty whatever but I can deal.
Haha, this is probably against the consensus too but I think Paramore has always been pretty bad at writing closers
Yeah when I listened to the album earlier this year for the first time since 2013 I was really thrown off by the fade-out. Like, what?
Really? I think they're pretty great. They're never my favourite song on the album but usually towards the top and I think they all feel like closers.
They definitely feel like closers, I just don't think they're very good for the most part. I think all of them are in my bottom half of their respective albums
All I Wanted is an amazing closer/song and the new album has a pretty good one too (forget what it's called though haha)
first time i listened to s/t i was floored by how much i liked it but it has fallen off far for me. i think part II, grow up, daydreaming, aint it fun, last hope and future are top tier paramore songs, but almost all the others range from meh to bad for me.
also what the fuck? paramore covered failure on that EP? that's wild, lol, especially knowing how young they were then
if i remember correctly, someone from failure produced it as well. to chime in on the other conversation, i tried to reorder and cut up the s/t once and while i know it's overly long, i couldn't ever figure out a way to put those songs together that made more sense than what they came up with. the only ones i'd truly get rid of are crazy girls and HTSYHB. (it's just sooo boring.) i would have really liked to see escape route on the album.
Not a single song on After Laughter that I'd cut. Grudges is probably my least favorite, but even that song feels essential to the tracklist. On S/T I wouldn't necessarily cut anything, but if Be Alone and the interludes were gone it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
