What a strange way of trying to evaluate a lyric. It doesn't fit this idea I have of "strength" therefore they're poorly written?
Hayley displaying that much vulnerability, honesty, and forthrightness in her lyrics in that song and every other on this record shows a lot of strength. You have to be pretty strong to lay your emotions out so blatantly on a record that thousands of people will listen to.
Being that transparent and open about emotions and sadness and feeling so vulnerable is just about the strongest thing you can do especially as stated above thousands and thousands of people will hear this. It's just weird and arbitrary to try and stack these lyrics up to some nebulous masculinity
But why does it boil down to masculinity? Who said anything about that? I just feel like the way the line is written is very arbitrary. And It seems oddly conformed and unfitting of a band like Paramore. But maybe I have them pegged incorrectly.
There are many ways to write about a lack of strength. And may ways to describe it better than this, in my opinion.
Conformed. It seems like something one of the Kardashians would say. Arbitrary as in thrown in for the sake of it.
It's just an opinion. There have been others that weren't thrilled with the lyrics that weren't called out like I have been. I think there are some highlights too lyrically.
Yes, i am aware of the definition of those words and my iPhone autocorrected "conformed". You're still not making sense. "Something one of the Kardashians would say" what do you mean by that?
My one bit of engagement (for the likes, y'all): Literally every lyric ever written is arbitrary. No line in the history of music needed to be written.
I just don't understand how it's not good lyrically. There are some spots in the album that are eh to me lyrically, but that song is easily one of the strongest to me
It's also strange to me this is the band that gets someone this nitpicky about the lyrics. I don't usually see this much negativity about other bands with much worse lyrics that are praised
I can't think of a worse word to describe lyrics than "arbitrary." If they were arbitrary they wouldn't be in the song. This goes for pretty much every lyricist besides like, Cedric Bixler Zavala
"Through an ice pick of abscess reckoning" Sometimes that band really is like Yes fucked a MadLibs book.
