Needing to hear the lyrics over and over again was probably the main driving force in getting me to like the musical change. Easily her best ever and got em right when I needed em.
Let me ask you, for conversational purposes... Do you think that because they speak to you? or is this purely from the standpoint of what they are?
They speak to me, but also feel that a lot of the lines are pretty clever and well thought out, every word seems to mean something there arnt many throw away lines
There's a few lyrical oddities throughout the band's career, but the ones quoted as "bad" from this album ... don't fit at all into that category. That mascara line is great, especially paired with the lipstick one.
I'm surprised, I would have thought that people wouldn't like that line. I like the album. I keep saying that. I don't know why it's such a big deal to critique the lyrics.
Why? Because it's not remotely traditionally masculine? I can't think of any reason someone wouldn't like that line, it's descriptive, and vital.
Oh please, don't ask me how I've been Don't make me play pretend Oh no, oh what's the use? Oh please, I bet everybody here is fake happy too [Verse 2] And if I go out tonight, dress up my fears You think I look alright with these mascara tears? See, I'm gonna draw up my lipstick wider than my mouth And if the lights are low they'll never see me frown [Pre-Chorus] Hey, if I smile with my teeth Bet you believe me If I smile with my teeth I think I believe me Definitely a highlight of the song, which is a highlight of the album. Just crazy talk.
