I think that line's mostly just fun. But I take it as, "Hey buddy! Can you actually sit with me in my mess for awhile instead of piously telling me everything rocks?" That's basically the whole song. Also, I feel this way a lot when I'm depressed.
Yea to me it's like "Hey I'm not really feelin it right now so just bear with me while I'm in this funk, but no worries you don't have to feel obligated"
Like I've said, this album has a lot going for it, but the lyrics are so poorly written with some truly cringe worthily lines. Like: "If I go out tonight, and dress up my fears, do I look alright with these mascara tears" I think there needs to be some lyrical evolution next time around.
Are you just not familiar with the phrase? That seems pretty clearly to me like it's just something she wants to keep on the down-low and not make a big deal of, thus "no pressure", but she's just not gonna see the world in this happy-go-lucky way that this other person is right now.
"Low key, no pressure" is saying that the request to "hang with me in my weather" is really quite simple and straightforward. It highlights the fact that the speaker isn't asking for much more than understanding and empathy from their partner. It makes a lot of sense.
I mean if you don't think asking one's partner for empathy/understanding/compassion as they navigate their mental health struggles should be a low key request (in the sense that it would be kind of absurb for the partner to deny that request and refuse empathy, etc.) I feel like you're just not going to relate to the song.
Yeah, I actually really like that line. I also love the meaning when you flip the first words: "No key, low pressure, just hang with me and my weather" No idea what I'm doing, storms ahead, etc.
"Low key" and "no pressure" are two very common phrases. If you don't understand what she's getting at that's on you, not her.
Today's episode, in which literally ap.net's most notorious troll ever stirs the pot somehow still in 2017.
"See I'm gonna wear my lipstick wider than my mouth, and if the lights are low they'll never see me frown" is brilliant.
Also the lyrics in Tell Me How are phenomenal. "You don't have to tell me if you ever think of me/I know you see my dancing wildly in the fog of your memory/you don't have to tell me/I can still believe" Kills me
Rose-Colored Boy has the best lyrics of any song ever: Exhibit A: "You say "We gotta look on the bright side" I say "Well, maybe if you wanna go blind" You say my eyes are getting too dark now But boy, you ain't ever seen my mind"
I was gonna comment on how the mascara tears line is great but I thought it was more trouble than it was worth haha, decided to just stick with why I like low key no pressure. Good to see he's a known troll though.
