yup, from my 6 year experience on some online videogames as a teenager, gamers like : - numetal / post-grunge (with a fetish over female singers and wrestlers, you know, bands played on WWE and such) - classic rock - brostep - darktek, techno, electronic music in that realm - anime music, whatever the genre and that's it. they hate everything else, and then call you some of the most offensive slurs if they learn that you like pop music, or even hip hop because gamers are soooooooooo racist as well. and i say that as someone who played from 2007 to 2013. i doubt it got better since then. gamergate happened way after right ? idk why i care about that now lol, it's not even the thread for that so i'm sorry for that mini-rant. I've seen so many teenagers suffer from cyberbullying on some games (Counter Strike Source being the main one). i didn't talk due to my social phobia so i couldn't be discriminated because of my age at the time, i'm very lucky. instead, i used the chat only to write, and i always listened to music when i played. whiiiiiich is a bit weird because every single albums i've listened during those years on my computer, well the memories i've made with them are linked to those games lol. I remember listening to that shitty early leak for Thrice - Beggars while playing, samesies for Brand New Eyes, Daisy, In Shallow Seas We Sail, Grey Britain, Common Dreads, The Inevitable And I, etc. it's wild now that I think about it. without those bands, I would've had lots more of rough times online. they helped me get through my teenage years, so thanks Paramore specifically for that as well.
Well your two posts about the errrghhhh I let out towards twilight say differently about your chill level my friend. You seem bothered, and I'm sorry. You seemed to have missed the part where I said it's an honorable mention for me.
If they hate the movie that much they should have no problem stealing a song from the soundtrack. Or just streaming it on a streaming service
Decode is one of three songs on that soundtrack that ISNT exclusive to owning the whole thing on Apple Music btw
The movies are terrible and most of the soundtracks are as well. Decode is in a handful of exceptions.
One of my greatest shames is knowing I've seen all of those films just to impress a girl. I do like the Paramore song though.
You're not alone. My ex was a huge fan. Fairly certain i've seen at least 3 in theaters. The last one was a very, very good laugh.
That Death Cab song is fire and "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" was on the first one, so you watch your tongue, sir
I mainly meant songs made for the soundtracks. That Death Cab song is one of my least favourite things they've ever done, ha.
excuse me @ the gaming discussion. i've been gaming since i was like 6 or 7 years old and i am totally ok. gamers are not a monolith. i don't appreciate this "brush off", that only makes it harder for women and minorities to feel welcome. you could use these arguments about any environment or atmosphere. polygon.com is pretty progressive leaning and is heavy on its moderation, and there are certain streamers on twitch who don't allow any racist/sexist/homophobic shit on their channels. it's just hard to find because the loudest and most popular ones are terrible and they don't care what's said on their chat. STEM in general is just male-dominated, so there's a lot of crap to deal with at places of work, conferences, school, online, etc. i graduated with an IT degree and i went to anime and gaming conferences a few times. trust me, i know. the game i've spent the most time online with and in terms of communication via chat is HOTS - and yet somehow its in game chat is nowhere near as bad as the incredibly small amount of time I spent on League. sure, the general environment needs change. but that won't happen by it being ignored completely. nobody talks like this about other spaces. video games have helped me out of my depression.
@Petit nain des Îles that comment on my YouTube video hahaaa I was cracking up. Wow you did work going back in this thread!
weird follow up to my post yesterday about the new job: spent some time with the managers today doing some paperwork to get me ready to start on Monday and we went to a nearby cafe and within MINUTES of sitting down to eat, a Paramore song comes on over the speakers. no idea what station it was or maybe it was someone's iPod because the song was one from like, 10 years ago (but i believe it was a single that was released) but it seriously creeped me out. Paramore is now following me around like a background laugh track for sitcom characters.
I will always have such a strong connection between the first Gears of War game and Panic! at the Disco's Pretty. Odd. which is... strange to say the least., as those 2 don't really go together at all. Motion City Soundtrack's I Am the Movie and Half Life 2, as well. Among other examples. It could be worse... I have a buddy who insists on telling our group of friends that he has never seen a Twilight movie, when I know, without a doubt, that I was with him at the theater when we saw one of them. I don't know who he thinks he's kidding but it always gives me a good laugh.
I used to play one of the Call of Duty games strictly to Doo Wops & Hooligans by Bruno Mars. Not really sure why, but that's something I'll always remember for some reason.
Haha yea it's weird how strong that connection can be. I'll always remember playing Black Ops when Ballad of Mona Lisa came out and You and Your Denial too.
I played green day greatest hits and Hot Fuss to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter in 2006. Anytime I hear those songs, I am taken back to the game. With Brand New Eyes, I associate that the mist with sitting in study hall lol.
