Same. I was entering college and the world was my oyster, and V&V will always make me think of that time. New Perspective may very well be my favorite Panic song actually. Just love how catchy it is.
Agreed. I have long believed that if they had followed Fever with V&V then they/Brendon would have never had those wilderness years of, like, 2008-2016 where they had to build everything back from the ground up after Pretty.Odd. Its definitely feels like the "red-headed stepchild" of the Panic! discography in the fanbase, but I've always thought Mona Lisa, Let's Kill Tonight, Ready to Go, The Calendar and Nearly Witches are top-tier. I think Mona Lisa is the Panic! classic that got lost to time/timing.
I both agree but I dunno, I feel like if they followed with a second album that was anywhere's close to Fever they were going to be the biggest band on the planet in mainstream pop spheres. A lot of misses like this in the genre where it just feels like legendary bands mistimed/misthought their next album. (Finch/Starting Line come to mind.) Obviously, Panic did ok lol, but I was in college and I was so looking forward to more bouncy modern panic tunes, and it was huge let down. I do think people tend to be too harsh on them, just a sensational amount of really good songs (besides vegas...) even if not every album is 10/10.
I started smoking pot around the time Pretty Odd came out so that was my shit. I still love it even though the lyrics make very little sense. Folking Around is such a fun song to sing along to.
