Yeah, they sent an email about it. Or at least I got one. Orders will receive a free flexi 7" of a remix as an apology.
Hmm. I didn't get one. Double checked my confirmation email too and it states the order is confirmed. Cool about the flexi. When was it sent? I did receive the email about the deluxe being available on streaming though.
I remember how long it took me to find out the Camisado and Time to Dance files I downloaded off Limewire were not the album versions. Always fun to revisit those demos.
Damn, it's great hearing those demos. That takes me back to early 2005, when I was obsessively listening to the demos for "Camisado," "Nails for Breakfast" and "Time to Dance," which I think were on their Purevolume and Myspace pages. When I found a way to download them, I put those demos on mix CDs for friends in high school. Then that led to seeing Panic on the Flagstaff date of the Take Cover tour in the fall, opening for Acceptance, just a few weeks before Fever dropped. Anyway, hearing the remaster and demos brought back those memories of being extremely hyped for the band and the debut album.
I emailed their support asking why I didn't receive an email about the delay and if all orders would receive the flexi. They responded by explaining what a pre-order is haha.
I remember being so disappointed by the album version of Time to Dance because of how much I loved the demo version ha. Glad the demo that made the album here is the same one — just higher quality.
Good question. I know Time to Dance, Nails, and Camisado were the three demos that they put on PureVolume and sent to Pete Wentz. Wikipedia says “The group entered the studio with half of the songs completed; the others were crafted in pre-production.” which hilariously… cites an AbsolutePunk interview lmao.
This makes sense. Likely because they didn’t even want to put out the latter half (the “rock” songs) of the album initially. They were very focused on the dance portion until Matt Squire convinced them otherwise. Wild to hear how empty I Write Sins was at the time.
Only discovered the track New Perspective recently and kinda obsessed by it. Is there any Panic album that sounds like this? Ie simple. Only familiar with Fever and High Hopes.
Yeah, New Perspective was the first song released following Ross and Walker leaving and they entered Vices era - which to me is their most uninspiring album, but still not bad by any means. It’s just a Fevers-light kind of album.
I was adamant that Panic was over when those dudes left, but I listened to “New Perspective” on repeat that whole summer. It’s definitely one of Brendon’s top 5 songs and probably one of John Feldmann’s too.
Wish we would have gotten an ep or record before Brendan became a full on solo pop phenomenon with this style of music.
“Let’s fast forward to the part…” was so controversial at the time v&v era has a special place in my heart though
