I gotta be honest, this is pretty shocking. Brendon is 35-years-old and has been wildly successful in the music industry for 18 years. He continued to get bigger and bigger and bigger as he went on. P!ATD obviously had a slight blip with the Pretty.Odd/Vice era, but he started taking off again with TWTL. Even before High Hopes, he was playing 10-12K venues during the DOAB tour cycle and then obviously arenas the past two album cycles. Sure, VLV didn't do great (by his standards), and the arena tour this past summer didn't do great (but as mentioned above, still 10-12K tickets sold. That's nothing to sneeze at), but he could easily ride this out for as long as he wanted. I have no doubt he could still write huge hits in the future, and I highly doubt he retires the P!ATD in the long run, but I can't recall an artist this big/popular just stop in the prime of their career - especially while still being so young. Fun. called it quits pretty early too, but Nate had been in the music business for quite a while and really only had the one Fun. album that took off. P!ATD has been popular from the jump.
I feel like the majority of his fans now don't give a shit about the majority of Fever anymore. Most of his success over the past 10 years has had nothing to do with Fever. He's barely played any Fever songs, other than Sins in a long, long, long time. Clearly, that's not what the fans have been coming to hear for the better part of a decade.
Fever was the only album I every really loved. I played the shit out of that CD back in the day. Don't think I've listened to a full album since maybe Vices
And yeah obviously he'll be back as Panic. Basically been a solo project for a decade, why would he perform as anything else
Watching live videos of him playing anything off Fever over the past few years, the last thing anyone should want is a 20 year album tour. Shit sounded horrendous.
Good riddance, thanks for the albums I enjoyed. I truly hope that he and his crew stay away from his fans as much as possible. No streams, no discord, no meet ups just cut it off.
Why is Brendon Urie being canceled? Allegations explored as singer trends on Twitter amid release of new album
Regardless he allowed a member of his crew too much power which led to women being assaulted. He’s also been racist on streams several times - I think we can just overall agree he might not be a good lad.
My guess is his wife having a baby was the perfect way to ride off into the sunset for a bit after VLV didn't do too great, despite the fact that imo it's a great and fun album. Panic will be back one way or another, it'll just take a bit of time.
