I haven’t heard this one yet, but the closers of the last two albums make me wish Brendon will one day make an album primarily focused on more emotionally resonant tracks. Not necessarily all ballads, but more raw and personal. Don’t get me wrong I love his “banger” tracks and have thoroughly enjoyed his recent output, but I can’t help but get the feeling that a more “serious” P!ATD album across the board could be really stunning.
Holy shit, this was a fun listen. I got my album this morning and picked up a friend and we drove around and listened to it and we both enjoyed it a ton. Dancing is Not A Crime was my favorite of all the unreleased songs. It was great not having so many songs out before the full album like with DOAB. Made the full album listen all that more enjoyable.
I just listened to this on a run. It was so much fun. I just wish it was longer.. but there’s not a bad song on this record.
Cool fun album. Brendon sounds better than ever. Roaring 20’s may Grow on me. The only tracks I’m not feeling are 6-8, though I feel like those were meant for a live show and could make for great performances with visuals, etc. Everything else i love. Really like Dying In LA as a closer, but I kept expecting it to build up to some pounding climatic outro for some reason, like a Dangerous Summer or Wonder Years Song lol. Anyway, not sure where I’d rank it yet, but I feel pretty sure i still prefer DOAB Overall
I really love the length of King of the Clouds and how tight it is from the get-go. Definitely my early favorite.
Finally giving this a first listen... so far I could actually see this topping DOAB for me! I love how prominent the R&B influence is on a lot of these tracks, “Hey Look Ma” is a JAM.
I’m not gonna make a new post for each track because I love all of them haha but holy fuck I’m liking this actually significantly more than I even thought I would.
“Dying in LA” is a breathtaking closer. Overall I’m really impressed with this, legitimately some of the catchiest songs I’ve heard all year are on this album. Gonna be getting tons of replays from me.
This album is sexy as hell, haha. I've listened 6 times already. That fuzzy guitar tone on Hey Ma is fuckin' awesome.
