Genuinely might be the worst song i've gone out of my way to listen to this year. a big, BIG 0/2 for me.
Yeah I had high hopes for the new album but this is just awful. The first single was passable but not great; this is unfortunately worse.
Its the lyrics that turn me off of this one. I feel like I'd find this song pretty enjoyable if the lyrics were about literally anything else lol
If this album is as overstuffed as these first two singles are with unnecessary loads of background vocals, then this is going to be an exhausting, headache-inducing record. The bgv's on the first single were charming and fun, but they wrecked the ability for the song to have any dynamics when moving into the chorus. On this song, everything's worse. The dynamics all feel off, the bgv's are consistently competing or clashing with the leads, meanwhile Brendan's leads simply don't sound pleasing to the ears. A couple of fun riffs and musical moments definitely can't save a song that's mostly made up of annoying melodies and clunky lyrics.
Really hard to see what he was even going for here. I want to like this and VLV, but they’re just bad…
spot on about the background vox- if he is going to milk the Queen stuff on every song it’s gonna get old fast.
The vocals on VLV, particularly lead, are quite impressive, if you ask me. I listened to that for the second time today, prior to this new song. On first listen of the new song, meh?
Wow....His vocals are actually out of tune. Wth? Chorus took me out of it and made me want to run away. I still really dig the Elvis Costello vibes both songs give, but damn. The piercing chorus in this one is rough.
I was starting to wonder if I've just outgrown Panic or something. Thanks for confirming it's not that...the songs just suck lol.
This song is a nightmare. How does someone finish something like this and think there’s nothing to improve? So much doesn’t work it’s not even funny.
I understand that people like different things, and that's fine. But I feel like just about every negative thing anyone's said about this song so far also applies to High Hopes. Maybe you guys just don't like his style? FWIW I think it's great
