I still really dig everything they've done. There's a Honey is the only song of theirs I don't really like. I also didn't listen to any live versions though so I had no issues with the recordings. Television Romance was worse but I just swapped it for the original on the album. I'm pretty hyped for whatever they do next.
I’m intrigued but my god did the album disappoint me after being in love with some of their earlier singles. I saw them so many times and met them, was so taken. Then just. Yeeesh. I really hope this is decent.
Exactly my thoughts. They were very hyped up and ultimately fell flat on their debut. I’m hoping this time around they really shine through and show us what they can really do. Very important release for them to make a solid name for themselves!
I think I’m still salty over iTunes forcibly removing all single versions of Television Romance and replacing them with the album version. Which is terrible in comparison. Overproduced and lacking everything that made the original great.
Thought the debut was fine, but I didn't have high expectations or anything. Still an enjoyable listen.
I thought we had a few more years before we circled back to Avril/Hilary Duff/Ashlee Simpson territory but I'm extremely here for it
Actually I quite enjoy this, the problem with them for me back when they first popped up and then their debut was that I really dug Television Romance....and then everything after that for me sounded roughly the same. So them changing their sound up a bit is the one thing I was actually hoping for, so I'm satisfied on that front. It is very Avril-esque and I'm alright with that lol
Love this sound for the band. Takes me back to my youth, listening to (as others have said) Avril Lavigne & the like. I wanna say there’s a particular Christian pop ripoff of Avril from the 00s I can hear in this? lol. Don’t think the actual song itself quite works for me. Maybe it’ll grow on me, but something feels a little off? Based on its sound & the album art, though, I could see myself really digging the rest. Also, Heather just consistently looks super cool to me.
The artist I was thinking of was Krystal Meyers. This song reminds me of listening to Krystal Meyers, while on my desktop computer on dial-up, looking at random anime art (much of it produced by Clamp).
