Came here to say this exact thing, I loved Annuals and haven’t heard anything like them in quite some time Honestly “Blemishes” is my favorite song of 2022 so far
I’m seeing him live again tonight! I was just watching the opening act at the Chicago show and someone slowly walked up next to me and it was Mike, which was cool. I was going to say something but I didn’t want to be disruptive during the opening set.
The show was great. He was sober which caused him to play some older songs he had not played in years and also not Ema up as much. (His words, not mine) Also: I bought a The Avalanche poster and was going to have him sign it but then he went upstairs so I was like shit I’m out of luck but I waited and he eventually came down with two beers in his hands and I was like will you sign this poster I just got and he was like sure but you have to hold this beer I just got and then after I was like wait do you want your beer and he was like no you can have it haha So I got my poster signed and a free beer from one of my all time favorite artists
Oh yeah, thanks! I'm listening to the 2015 record and can already see some of that! Is that Nate singing on those tracks?
Cool! Today I'm trying out the rest of the discography, currently in the middle of the 2010 album - this is all really good! Some amazing songs on those!
So are we thinking there’s a whole album coming now? I know they weren’t sure how they wanted to release the material but it seems this is a lead single.
I think the previous singles were more interesting, but this is really good! I would love to have a full album from that project, sounds fresh and it would definitely benefit in having a broader context.
Maybe I should consider that too to learn some stuff on the process ;d ;d normally I'm not THAT interested to see all the tiny bits of work anymore, but well, could be interesting.
They said it’d be a series of singles back at the start. My best guess is that they’re doing it that way as a test bed for how it works from a marketing standpoint but we’ll get a full album worth of material.
Awesome artwork as well, so it would be a wasted chance not to put out a great looking "12 out there ;d
It’s pretty wild how much better his output is getting with age, it’s just all fleshed out so well now
It's to the point where I don't often find myself listening to early Owen or American Football anymore. The Avalanche and LP3 will always be two of my favorite albums of all time. I'll be seeing Lies in a couple of weeks like some others of you, I'm sure. SV is my regular haunt so if you see me, let's grab a beer.
