He played a few new songs, Home Is Where The Haunt Is, and then some olderish songs.

There was a guy next to me who came from South Carolina to Chicago who ruined the show for me honestly. He just kept yelling shit mid song, dominating the in between songs conversation, repeatedly going on about how he got back together with his wife of 20 years because of this album, (nice story but I don’t need to hear it 5 times). and being generally annoying. Towards the end someone eventually told him to shut up thankfully, but he brought a weird vibe to the show that made it awkward.

 

Damn that’s a bummer that the crowd ruined the show. But hopefully the actual music was great.

They’ve been working on it for a loooong time so I hope so!

 

That would be amazing. I'm kind of getting Bon Iver vibes from some of the snippets so maybe S. Carey is also involved.

 

I get that vibe too. That would be awesome. I also get the feeling it’s a little more electronic or synthy. Excited to see what this finally sounds like!

 

Two Lies songs up on streaming now!

 

"Echoes" has some Bleed American-era JEW ballad vibes.

"Blemishes" reminds me of American Football meets Annuals.

Sounds cool, very fresh as for a Mike Kinsella release. Love the artwork too hahh! Getting some Tegan and Sara vibes at times ;d also many different comparisons come to mind, ranging from Sigur Rós to M83, but for what it's worth, it is something new.

 

This is dope.

These are great songs

 

They had a Q&A on the Lies discord server today.
- Basically confirmed that the songs were originally for LP4 but "once it became clear they weren't going to we pushed them in different directions".
- The songs aren't done yet and are still being put together.
- No AF tour or music anytime soon as it's hard to do without Lamos so I guess that rules out a new drummer?
- They want to do a music video for a Lies song but it's impossible to find a director right now. Thought that was interesting

 

Ya these new songs are great. I almost hear a 1975 influence on Echoes..

 

Seems there's not going to be any new AF then. Is that new project supposed to prepare a full LP though?
