I won my first three placement matches yesterday. The first one I performed horribly but my team did good, but I improved in the other two. Not sure I like the longer games though.

I get in a match in quick play and the whole opposing defending team is Junkrat and we barely lose so that's ok.

I quit and wait a few minutes and jump into another game and the whole opposing attacking team is Reaper.

I'm afraid to even get into another match.

 

Next game, all Soldier 76...

 

It's like people refuse to shoot behind a Reinhardt and it's so frustrating.

They see a Bastion is set up and shooting at me while I block him and they just stand there doing nothing or try and sneak around him for some reason.

 

Whenever someone says they want to flank when we have a rein pushing...no words

 

First competitive match of the day and the first round goes great with us only allowing them 1 point in payload push.

We start the second round and two of them just when we start to push the payload.

I hate people so much. I had a decent game and I get little xp thanks to those two.

 

Just had another game where we won, me getting five medals three golds...only to barely get a bump up in my rank.

I hate everything.

 

people using Torbjorn and bastion in KOTH in competitive make me wanna fight someone.

 

I'm done with competitive.

Had a perfect attack on Hollywood, took over the payload and pushed it all the way down. All we had to do was defend for a little while and we had TONS of room for error.

Then 2 people on my team decide that's a good time to quit.

Because of them we lose that round in minutes and go to Sudden Death where we lose in seconds.

Competitive sucks for counting that as a loss no matter whether people stay or leave after the party breaks down. It's fucking stupid and I hope the people who left fight nothing but Torbjorns for life.

 

Yeah, the abandon rate is too high for me to consider spending so long in a competitive match. Should Blizzard fix that by not having it count against those who do stay for season 2, I'd consider giving competitive another try. Even still, I much prefer the shorter matches of quick play.

 

So is there really any reason not to leave if someone from your team leaves? I feel like it's just impossible to win and if I stick around I just lose the ranking points

 

The only reason I stay is just to try and gain any xp I can get for myself but it's pretty much a pointless thing.

It sucks how much more a problem of leavers are on console than PC just because communication is easier on PC. They really need to have a better chat system for console because I hardly see mics on quick play but they are non existent on competitve.

 

Should I be losing ranks though? I left a couple without penalty (so I thought) and was a rank lower my next match

That drives me nuts. For someone else leaving I will get hit hard in my rank. It doesn't help me if the winning team barely ranks up, I still get screwed.

 

That's so ridiculous. So what does "no penalty" mean? Just no lowered XP?

 

It won't count towards your number of games left, which they use to ban you for the season. You'll still lose a rank.

 

I just entered the game and it had ended a few seconds after I picked my hero. I proceeded to get over 3000 xp for doing literally nothing..

 

Update: I got more experience in the game I did absolutely nothing than the game I just played where I dominated as Zenyatta. I'm confused.

also second POTG for Zenyatta today for me. SUPPORT IS WHERE ITS AT.

 

Whenever I get POTG when Lucio it's always because I love sending people off cliffs. But then it's never a really impressive POTG, just me knocking people to their doom while on the point. Just had another of those haha.

 

is there a list/video of who hard counters who? like one that the community agrees upon? id love to look at it, im currently away from my computer otherwise id just look it up myself

 

Finally got above .500! Took forever. It'd be like 2 steps forward 1 step back most of the time. And got enough to buy the Mercy devil skin. Feel accomplished for the day.

Had a match where I spent 4:54 pushing the payload. I got it all the way to the very end as Lucio with exactly zero help from teammates. I swear they were the most allergic bunch to getting near the payload. Had to switch to D.Va and kill everyone before we won. I'd always respawn and exactly no one was near the payload. Help me out! Ugh.

 

I think today has been my longest amount of time played since the game came out. I think I put in a good 6 hours and went up like 2 levels and a half.

also in other news it's so much fun watching TimTheTatMan play this on twitch. Dude is really funny plus he is like seriously good with all the offensive characters. He also has a rank of 74 with his group.

 

Another great game where half the opposing team leaves and I barely level up.
