9-1, the dream was crushed. Got 3030 SR though :3 what's that, diamond? Edit: apparently I'm ranked 5.6k, its gonna be a tough climb to top 500 this season
3-1 in my placement games right now. The match I lost was stupid as team never changed characters, only one support and one tank which meant we were squishy af. Still getting two golds a game roughly though.
Bugs me when people, especially playing comp, don't switch to counter or anything. All my comp matches today had someone playing Junkrat and he was never effective no matter who was playing him.
I wonder if sales have been slipping lately? Between the free weekend and $10 off through sept 15 it seems like they're pushing it hard
Man. Tonight is the night of a thousand Hanzos. I've run into so many teams with at least 3. They don't win, but it's sure as fuck annoying.
Soldier 76 is the easiest character to start with since he is basically your standard 1st person shooter character. Reinhardt is a good start of you like bulk. Zenyatta is awesome of you love healing, but want to make huge contributions on offense. Bastion is good if you like camping with a giant machine gun.
Sick of playing this and coming up against a team of ALL soldier 76's or Genji's. I still feel like such a noob in this game despite being level 20(ish) as well. Some characters are just not usable for me due to how terrible I am with them. I feel I'm doing really well as a support with Lucio for his speed boost but he doesn't heal teammates as fast as needed. But with Mercy I find her offense game week. Hmm....
Here is the current meta. The basic team strategy is to have two assault, two tanks and two healers. Only defense character that is currently used frequently is Mei. This doesn't necessarily matter when playing quick play because people tend to pick just whatever but a lot of people use this info when playing comp mode. Bastion is easy to use but is also easily defeated if your team has anyone who is smart. Learn how to play the top tier characters well which means practice. I'm sure there is a site that has tips for each character somewhere.
Had some decent matches in Comp to start the morning, then it all went downhill. Ended up barely above what I started at. Ugh. I don't understand some characters my team decides to select and why NO ONE WILL EVER GROUP THE FUCK UP.
Highly, highly unlikely. This is just their opportunity to draw more players in because they know 1) how addicting it is to play, and 2) people can change their opinions on the game after getting to play it hands on. I know many people who got into the beta who had zero interest beforehand but gave it a shot thinking "why not", and turned out to really like it.
Whatever you do, don't get caught up in the "sniper" trap and start playing with Hanzo/Widow/Ana. None of them are actually useful first of all (except Ana in certain comps), and second of all their aiming doesn't really translate to the other heroes. Start with Soldier 76 for offense, Lucio for heals, and Roadhog for tank - they're all pretty self sufficient and aren't too complex so you can learn the basics. After that, if you *really* wanna practice aiming, play McCree - his reticle is insanely small and requires really good precision to get his shots to land, which helps because if you can hit with McCree, you can hit with pretty much anyone more accurately. Zarya is a good tank for learning "tank" mechanics, being reactive and proactive with her bubbles - when people shoot her shields, it makes your gun's laser do more damage, so you want to throw shields on people already in the fray. If people see a shield on you while you're running in, they aren't gonna fire, so that's why it's more important to be reactive. You also learn to set up plays with her Gravity ult (wait for Reinhardt's shield to break before you suck him in though!) People I don't recommend you play: Mei Any sniper (if you're absolutely set on it though, I'd say Widow) Reinhardt (actually very hard to play him as anything other than a walking shield, your teammates really need to know how to stay behind it to fire and at low MMR good luck with that lol) Genji (you'll have 4 others on your team anyway, and he takes a LOT of skill to be as game-changing as he has the potential to be) Bastion (hard to play him at a level where you aren't better off playing someone else)
The character with the most potential to really fuck up the enemy team, in my opinion, is Pharah, especially at low MMR where the other team probably won't have a good McCree to take you out. You just really gotta understand how to use her hovering and use that positional advantage to shoot down on them. Aim for the enemy's feet, it's a lot more consistent damage.
I fucking love having a Reinhardt on my team when he knows what he's doing. Too often though I'll just see him standing there with his shield waiting for *us* to engage the other team...bruh that's your job!!
