I think people are going to completely ignore this Saåad record because it's "boring" or whatever, but I've been really into their record Verdaillon which is basically just an ambient/drone record but it has really helped me focus and clear my head to be productive
that's why you need to google them first, see if anything looks interesting from the look of it maybe i'd like it in 2008 also the guitarist's name is awsten? please parents stop spelling your kids' names wrongs
Good album. They always have good albums. Video for Cold To See Clear is a great time. I know I'm the only one on the planet who thinks this but on every front I Don't Think It Is by Say Anything was mercilessly trashed, and I think people are missing out on a smartly written if somewhat poorly executed album.
School of Seven Bells - SVIIB is also great and doesn't have a thread. There's no one named Awsten in the group.
Bump becuse we're almost in December and I think that's always a good month to go back and catch up/discover what was missed. By my count, The Weeknd, Childish Gambino and John Legend are the only three albums left to come out this year that I have my eye on
nick hook - relationships alcest - kodama trna - lose yourself to find peace lil aaron - gloing pain$ dylan brady - choker lorenzo senni - persona rabit & dedekind cut - R&D dedekind cut - $uccesor (Ded 004) serpentwithfeet - blisters mark pritchard - under the sun
Releases I didn't see a lot of people talking about that I enjoyed: Abhi/Dijon - Montana EP Hinds - Leave Me Alone The Holy Mess - Trash Age EP Ingrid Michaelson - It Doesn't Have to Make Sense Kvelertak - Nattesferd Lydia Loveless - Real Pat Moon - Don't Hide From the Light Postiljonen - Reverie Seismograph - In Oblivion The Sun Days - Album Your Boy Tony Braxton - Adult Contempt I think the Weezer album is getting overlooked by a lot of people who wrote the band off. I don't particularly love the Modern Baseball album, but I think a lot of people who wouldn't normally pay them any attention would at least enjoy a few tracks off of it. I find myself coming back to a few of them.
Some more good albums that I don't think had album threads: Ray Lamontagne - Ouroboros Royal Canoe - Something Got Lost Between Here and the Orbit Joseph - I'm Alone, No You're Not Arthur Beatrice - Keeping The Peace Aurora - All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend Also I'm pretty sure there was a thread for Whitney - Light Upon The Lake, but I would have thought it would have taken off more on this site given how big the Pinegrove album is on here
Not sure what is and isn't getting overlooked, but some records I've liked this year that (maybe) have gone under the radar a wee bit. Bandcamp/YT links embedded and a rubbish RIYL. Aseul (아슬) - New Pop RIYL; Electro, lofi, indie pop. Basia Bulat - Good Advice RIYL; Folky pop, little bit of country, little bit of soul Bombino - Azel RIYL; Blues-y rock, "world" music Charles Bradley - Changes RIYL; old-school soul and R'n'B. James Brown etc Friends in America - Be In Love RIYL; Scottish indie shoegazey stuff. The greatest band. Gregory Porter - Take Me to The Alley RIYL; Soul and Jazz, Nina Simone etc Holy Fuck - Congrats RIYL; Weirdo experimental electro stuff The Jezabels - Synthia RIYL; Indie Rock, Kate Bush Kano - Made in the Manor RIYL; Grime, Skepta etc Lake Street Dive - Side Pony RIYL; Soulful indie pop sort of stuff. Like the Basia Bulat album above. Michael Kiwanuka - Love & Hate RIYL; Soulful political music, Marvin Gaye Mr Oizo - All Wet RIYL; Silly, hyperactive dance music Muncie Girls - From Caplan To Belsize RIYL; Pop punk Saul Williams - MartyrLoserKing RIYL; Very wordy Hip-hop Oh Hee Jung - Freckles RIYL; Very minimal electro pop Dunno - some of these are probably decently well known, I'm a bit out of the loop, but they're all great!
I really don't "get" Hinds I guess, I've heard multiple songs and think they are just straight up bad
