Me too. I legit had to look at a list. I feel like there was a bit of a fallow stretch for releases this spring, makes it almost feel like a new year now that the deluge has started.
Forgot about one that I'm really trying to get people to listen to!!! It's 2015 but I think NA release was this year. Elza Soares - A Mulher do Fim do Mundo (this translate to The Woman at the End of the World if that title grabs anyone's attention).
Bear Hands Night Lovell Cub Sport Amarionette Beaty Heart Rome Hero Foxes Rome Hero Foxes - The Great Hall (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)
I was really excited for that Bear Hands record and it just did not sit that well with me at all haha. I really tried too.
andy stott - too many voices aphex twin - cheetah ash koosha - i aka i an autumn for crippled children - eternal the body - no one deserves happiness the body and full of hell - one day you will ache like i ache bossk - audio noir djds - stand up and speak dvsn - sept 5 father - im a piece of shit the field - the follower frameworks - smother kowton - utility leon vynehall - rojus lone - levitate night lovell - red teenage melody obrother - endless light polyenso - pure in the plastic the range - potential rival consoles - night melody sbtrkt - save yourself show me a dinosaur - show me a dinosaur slug christ - sometimes even the moonlight hurts my eyes sumac - what one becomes young dolph - king of memphis favs are bolded
crazy to think about but the bowie record feels largely ignored in most circles, especially here chris staples - golden age iggy pop - post pop depression autolux - pussy's dead the dirty nil - higher power culture abuse - peach greys - outer heaven diiv - is the is are bob mould - patch the sky parquet courts - human performance creative adult - fear of life
i dont consider is the is are overlooked just because its my number 2 of the year but yeah it probably is overlooked around here
i think the bowie record might be like, too inextricably tied to his death for some people in addition to the swarm of releases that came early in the year and may have overshadowed it.
WAY overlooked. I haven't read a peep about this album on the web. No one cares because dude played in a way obscure emo band 15 years ago and looks like Eric Wareheim but they should because it's very, very good. Quietly heartbreaking and just well-done stuff that grows on you after a few listens. This record got some decent buzz, but arguably overlooked. Super fun. Man, I saw Greys on the White Lung tour and I don't think anyone had a clue who they were. This album is really solid, I liked it. The Creative Adult record is wonderful. Top 5 of the year for me right now. It's a little absurd I haven't seen it get more love. People need gimmicks, I guess.
Yeah I think I'd consider the DIIV record to be pretty overlooked around these parts. I myself even listened to it almost exclusively for a little while but then didn't go back for months. Caught a show a week or two ago though and they were awesome, and now I'm totally back on the DIIV train haha
i saw them back in may and met and spoke extensively with cole before and after the show, such an incredible dude one of the nicest band guys ive ever met in my life. the album really hit me a couple months back with everything i went through being directly reflected in the music and lyrics, hence why its so high up on my list.
I really don't get it. Everyone who loves KDev around here should go crazy for him. Loved 238 and Discover America but his solo stuff is the best he's put out. That's good. I haven't seen much chatter about it outside of a few sources, so I'm glad to hear that. Definitely in my top 5. Loved the first Greys record and I was pleasantly surprised by their growth. Turned into such an interesting band. And yeah, the Creative Adult one really should latch on more. Definitely feels more like a fall record though with the vocals/guitar tone
It somehow completely flew under my radar until this week that Tweet released an album this year, still haven't gotten a chance to check it out yet
I was hoping an 8.0 from Pitchfork might get more people talking, but Fury - Paramount is a really solid youth crew type hardcore record.
the new La Femme album comes out tomorrow, that's probably the only time they'll be mentioned on this site.
