I’m coming around very slowly…. Still a lot of production choices I don’t think I love but I’m gonna keep listening…

 

Nice to see that Raine and Mike have made amends and for him to have an appearance on the album, even if it's only for one track.

 

It’s a shame that it’s just ambient noodling over a spoken word excerpt sounds like he recorded it over zoom

 

I read that his involvement started with him finding an unused track from that era and telling Raine, so it wouldn't surprise me if they just used the track as is.

 

Ok, a week later and I’m pretty sure I actually love it. Just had to get over the shock of how much of a left turn it is. Nothing has had any real staying power for me since Gravity, but I think this one might stick around for a while for me. There’s something new each time I spin it. The bass is super groovy throughout and the guitar is relatively sparse and well-utilized.

 

I am right with you on this. "Wish You Well" and "Temporary Healing" have really stood out to me. Probably others too honestly, even the singles have worn in nicely. Very cool stuff.

 

Seriously. Almost all of the songs are earworms and I’ve found myself singing stop, run, temporary healing, future disease and wish you well numerous times

 

My favorites are The Message, 19 Days, Good Die Young, and Temporary Healing.

TL;DR most of us didn't like it first listen and have really come around on it. I think I'm about 6 full listens in, and few songs I've come back to more.

 

I have to say on the first song I wondered if they had replaced Raine for a verse.

I've been listening to this a ton over the past week or so. I find it really solid all the way through and easy to throw on. Definitely surpassed my expectations.

 

I’ve been jamming it consistently since the release and I went from hating it to loving it a whole lot

Unclear if that’s one of the holograms or not. That would be my guess.

 

That's Mike Turner's actual guitar and glasses from the Spiritual Machines tour, and he's tagged in the instagram post. He also posted it on his own account with "it's been a minute...." Sounds like Mike himself is joining them on the tour.

And Mike will be just a hologram for this tour, but there will be shows (dates kept secret) that he will show up in person.

 

Very cool. Glad to see them mending fences. SM2 has really really grown on me.
