So I really love how in "These 3 Things" starting at the 1:36 mark there is this subtle shrill build up of violins. It made me realize that bands use feedback buildup in a similar vein to like an orchestra holding notes/tuning before a performance to build up tension.

 

Happy to see someone else mention Grizzly Bear. I put on Shields this morning after listening to this album. Different albums, for sure, but I just felt a similar vibe.

yeah, that post-punk/goth/new wave dark 80's and 80s revival shit's really been hitting the spot for me the past few weeks, good observation haha. anything else in that lane you've been digging these days?

Iceage is my favorite band doing the post-punk thing. The sound they achieved on the last LP is beyond incredible.

Savages is great too, but I feel you may know them?

 

Iceage have always been a tough one for me to get into sadly
