i had thought pup was already too big for the label anyways i could see epitaph. or polyvinyl. or even the yip label
Wow, seems amazing with how successful some of their bands/records appear to have been, but they have been possibly spreading themselves too thin by signing too many bands (and a lot of bands who probably didn’t sell that many records all up), kind of like what happened with No Sleep. Terrible for Kississippi but they seem well advanced with the campaign for that record so maybe that pressing is already in the can and will be the last thing we get from S1D for a while, if not I hope she has generated enough of a buzz with what’s been released so far to get picked up by another label. I guess Jeff Rosenstock going to Polyvinyl should have been a sign that something was up.
yeah who knows I know Mom Jeans Kississippi and perhaps Meat Wave all have records out soon I thought it was a little strange that I hadn't received any emails about the upcoming Kississippi record outside of when the Cut Yr Teeth was released
I forgot about Mom Jeans signing with them. I wonder if these artists will be released or are still bound by contract even if the label is not putting out records. S1D have been in business a very long time and seemed (from the outside) to have their shit together. It bodes extremely ill for the scene if someone of their size is indeed going under.
not really, polyvinyl is much bigger than S1D and that was like a month ago, doubt there was enough notice to have that happen since it was a shock to everyone today. jamie is interviewing with saddle creek so maybe they'll start taking over some of the slack here
Sad for mom jeans and kississipi. The label going under would explain Jeff’s sudden move to polyvinyl though.
yeah i'm hearing now that S1D is like, entirely done. like, all bands are free agents done. what a wild day.
The Jade tree one was a pretty massive bummer but it turned out well for tiny engines w spirit of the beehive. Not so well for you blew it rip
Man I can't imagine where some of these bands are gonna end up. This was easily my favorite label I'm super bummed
oh shit, nice. on the two year anniversary of them and pdaddy playing to ten people in my radio station hahaha
