I dig the song but it would def be outranked by at least 90% of Sore Thumb for me. also, far from a deal-breaker, but there’s something bugging me about the mix that keeps it from really *popping* imo the way the last couple releases have. so it’s def a downgrade in that regard to my ears, but I guess it’s hardly a fair fight when Mike Sapone was involved in the mixing of BITG and ST haha. also not really getting the take that it sounds more like Basking than Sore Thumb, personally. to me it has a similar melodic sensibility to something like Nothing to Do or Fly on the Wall. it’s upbeat and catchy, but there’s kind of a bittersweet/melancholic undercurrent to the chord progression/melody of it. Basking, minus like Priority Change and Charlie, feels a lot sunnier to me by comparison.
song is growing on me! just had a great listen of it. :) but also it took me a few listens to really realize how brilliant Sore Thumb really was and re-calibrate my expectations from just wanting BITG 2.0 (and the same was the case with BITG, I thought it was a step down from Yunahon the first few listens and eventually came around to it being better)
I've listened to this band for a few years, but in the last couple weeks something really really clicked for me in a different way and now they're all I really want to listen to
this project just has so many great songs at this point; can’t imagine a less-than-stellar setlist but all that really matters is they played describe you
This band has had a stranglehold on me for like two months now. Saw Jade open acoustic for Petey tonight and it was so great. They didn’t play One Sick Plan at the show last month so I was stoked to get it tonight. I was starting to calm down on my listening and now I’m all back in. I listen to Out of the Blue, De Facto, and gb/ol almost daily, and run through their discog at least once or twice a week I can’t believe as recently as June or July they played a free street fest blocks from me and I didn’t feel like going… what a mistake lol
I have never heard of that band, and just checked Spotify and they’re pretty big. No idea how I Missed that.
