Seeing them live is what really did it for me. Jade is such a good performer.

Just after my first listen my feelings are it’s good but I much preferred Sore Thumb. Might change obviously

  5. This is definitely short and less immediate than the last two, but I also think it's lovely and really love the guitar tones. Will def be returning to this

Despite it's length, I feel like it's one that needs a deep dive to really let the songs open up. It kind of washed over me on first listen, though not in a bad way, except for a few standout moments.

another great record! Sore Thumb is likely to remain my favorite Oso record forever, but I do like how this one kinda expands on some of the sonic territory introduced on that record. we’ll see how I feel upon further listens tho. when Basking dropped, my first couple spins I felt underwhelmed by it but by the fourth listen or so it surpassed Yunahon for me. then Sore Thumb came out and it was the same exact situation. Only two listens in to this one atm, so I am curious how much it will grow on me. My gut says it is the least satisfying as a full album experience, but the actual musical direction itself is very immediate and just feels super comfortable and breezy.

I do think that "that's what time does" is a top ten Oso Oso track.

Love it, probably not as much as Yunahon or Basking, but it’s solid. That’s What Time Does is a top 5 Oso song.

Haven’t listened to this yet but didn’t love the last one. Basking in the glow is easily the best album. I also saw them live once and I don’t know if it was just an off night but they didn’t sound great.

I haven’t returned to sore thumb a lot but that’s less a commentary on its quality and more about how bad I am with keeping up and listening to everything I wanna listen to all the time. there’s only so many hours in the day unfortunately. Basking in the Glow is one of my favorite albums tho so I’m pumped to listen. Pressing play now.

this rules I am once again confused by the somewhat tepid response

  16. I ended up liking Sore Thumb quite a lot but it took me awhile. Loved this one on first listen though

  17. Also: the restraint it takes to write a song as good as Other People’s Stories but then keep it to 2:20 good lord

I guess you could say nautical nonsense is NOT something he wishes

Finally got to listen to this today and loved every bit of it. Band does not miss, one of the most consistent discographies ever for me.
