After around 4-5 listens I'm still struggling to get into this album as a whole. There are many moments that stick out (intro, the outro to dig, charlie) but the overall sound and aesthetic isn't appealing to me. but boy am I so absolutely chuffed that jade is getting all of this attention and success right now. yunahun mixtape was incredible, and while I'm not personally the biggest fan of this (for now), I'm so so happy
This is at least top 5 of the year for me, I love it. I can’t see it topping the National, but number two is very possible.
This is just another incredible album to add to the list of albums I can’t fathom choosing between for AOTY.
I've played almost literally only this record since it's come out, multiple times a day. I love it and I'm excited to see these songs live and I can't wait for them to melt my face with the outro to dig. I still think yunahon is my fave though
Moreso than other groups, I see people use Oso Oso/Jade interchangeably. Did he write/record everything himself? Are touring members official members?
In such a great tweet for Jade, it is easy to forgot how cool it is to see Brian read, namedrop, and give free publicity to someone who absolutely trashed Get Hurt and definitely affected the morale of the band. Years later good to see a tweet like this, especially for a great cause of supporting this new album!
Better Oblivion Community Center The Japanese House Nilüfer Yanya The Maine Clairo This I feel like I’m forgetting something but this is what I can remember off the top of my head.
It's between this and Somos for me at present but we're obviously still waiting on some big ones (Jimmy Eat World and The Early November, specifically)
Local Natives Narco Debut The Dangerous Summer Periphery and I've mostly just been listening to a ton of Opeth for the last couple months. This will be up there though.
Oso Oso The Early November Somos The National Sleater-Kinney Jay Som Pedro the Lion all top contenders and i'm definitely missing a bunch
Makes me excited you have the early November in there, I’m worried about that one a bit. I love I dissolve but the other one is probably the first song of theirs I don’t love in a very long time.
I haven’t really listened to anything more than a handful of times this year so not much has stuck with me at all
he writes himself but the drummer has been on the recordings since Yunahon at least, I assume it was just Jade on Real Stories and the EP but only because I've never actually seen album credits for it anywhere
