I'd have loved Blanchett to win for the movie; a truly towering performance. I liked The Fabelmans a lot more overall, though. Definitely my favorite of that crop.

 

The Fabelmans is an all timer. Brilliant. Better than any movie that’s won BP since…No Country? Same for The Irishman

There was some decent nominees but i felt those couple pandemic era Oscars of 2020/2021 had fairly weak lineup of noms.

The 2022 lineup had a lot of bangers - Fabelmans, TAR, Avatar: The Way of Water, Top Gun: Maverick

 

Especially since Mikey and Sean both mentioned sex workers

 

There is always some level of consensus. Films like Anora and Oppenheimer have a broad consensus. CODA and Green Book did not.

 

Singing your own song awkwardly while everyone gets secondhand embarrassment is far more important clearly
