I loved it! I didnt like the conner special i saw where he was wearing a polo but this was incredible. Im in my group chat telling them all the watch it asap.
Stand Up Solutions. Yeah I honestly didn’t love that one as much as some other people did. Have you seen his Vine compilation? That’s probably his best work
Maybe one of the most relatable things ive ever seen. I cant wait for my friends to watch, there are so many moment that could be ripped straight out of our band days.
Ok having not watched The Brutalist yet (hopefully tonight or tomorrow night), here's what I want to win: BP: Nickel Boys Director: Baker Actor: Idk I've only seen Complete Unknown Actress: Mikey Sup Actor: Yura Borisov Sup Actress: Monica Barbaro Original Screenplay: Anora Adapted: Nickel Boys I assume the Brutalist will change some of those once I watch. Insane that Nickel Boys didn't get a director nom.
Besides I'm Still Here, I still need to watch Sing Sing. I haven't watched any of the animated films nominated and for docs I started Black Box Diaries and Soundrack but didn't finish them.
It's a huge bummer to me that neither of the Maren Morris songs from The Wild Robot got nominated. Pretty crappy year for that category, and it didn't have to be!
September 5 was a pretty competently made and well acted film, and I liked that it's ultimately about media exploitation of tragedy, but it just felt like wrong place/wrong time with it's subject matter. I don't think it deserves an original screenplay nom. John Magaro and Leonie Benesch were great in it though.
There is gonna be a tribute to James Bond segment presented by Barbara Broccoli. I hope she calls Amazon MGM execs "fucking morons" on stage.
Best Picture/Director: Hard Truths, Mike Leigh Best Performance: Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Hard Truths Best Supporting Performance: Guy Pearce, The Brutalist Best Cinematography: Nickel Boys I didn't read any screenplays so I can't vote on that.
Jean-Baptiste should definitely get best actress if she was nominated but I still think Nickel Boys should get best picture.
had thomas from AP on the newsletter (usually a music newsletter) to do predictions/preferences, as well as going through who we would have nominated in a few of the oscar’s categories as well as a few categories of our own The Rickies (or HYLI's Alternative Oscars)
Question about Best Sound. Since Mixing and Editing have been merged the award now goes to both the production sound engineer and the post-production sound editor?
it seems like, going off the named nominees, that it’s different movie to movie. but it seems to be a mix of sound engineers, designers and mixers.
can't believe Fred Hechinger's performance in Kraven The Hunter wasn't included in Best Year As A Performer
