I liked The Brutalist a whole lot. Definitely the most technically well made film of anything nominated. I think a few other films had tighter scripts and more standout performances so I dunno if I'd pick it for BP. Certainly think it should win for Director and Cinematography though.
Haven’t seen Emilia Perez or Wicked. Wicked is still $20 to watch and yeah not watching Emilia Perez.
I'm Still Here turns out, is very good! EP the only movie on this list I fully hate If I filled out the ballot: 1. Nickel Boys 2. The Brutalist 3. Anora 4. Dune: Part Two 5. The Substance 6. I'm Still Here 7. A Complete Unknown 8. Conclave 9. Wicked 10. Emilia Perez

Not everyone has the chance to see every film before the ceremony. I personally don’t care, but I just always thought it was an odd choice showing death scenes and shit in their clips.
yeah for sure but like, it's a celebration of the movies. how can you celebrate it without acknowledging the finished product
Like I said, I personally don't care, but showing the very end of movie clips is weird. Idk what that has to do with being adult. If you wanted to show your friend a movie, would you should them a clip of the ending first? It's not just about you. The general audience watches the awards too. I'm just saying it's reasonable to not use scenes that give away the ending.
and what i'm saying is that, as an adult, you (not actually you but you know what I mean) should be able to understand that if you're watching an annual awards show that's celebrating the previous year in movies, everything is fair game I don't think that's unreasonable at all and your example of showing 1 individual the end of a movie is pretty weak lol
Is it though? Because the awards are just as much about marketing the films as they are the awards. Not everyone gets to see everything or knows every movie. The general audience isn't seeing all nominees every single year. Why should an adult that maybe never heard of a movie get spoiled for the ending? So just make the show universal to everyone by using 1 other minute of the 2-3 hour movies.
Which is also a problem that a lot of people have and why some don't watch trailers at all. So why keep doing it is what I'm saying? It's easy to just not do it but still draw people in with something. Is it really that weird to think about people besides us? lol
me and stale azzwater each get a bag of popcorn then sit down to watch a new trailer when it drops. Goal is to eat the whole bag before the trailer ends. Loser has to pay for the movie tickets when it comes out.
