The current favorite on Gold Derby to win best doc feature is No Other Land, which is a Palestinian documentary about apartheid and inequality in the West Bank. I am sure people will be very normal about that winning.
With the inclusion of Wicked in the mix, Anora for BP looks like it still is up in the air on the odds sites. Right now best original screenplay and Mikey Madison for best actress seem like Anora's biggest locks. Zoe Saldana is still favored to win best supporting actress, but Ariana Grande is gaining some real traction.
I still would love to see Demi Moore get nominated for The Substance though because her performance along side Mikey Madison was absolutely fearless
I don't think Wicked is going to a win BP either, but it's looking like there is a chance enough Academy voters could pick it that it makes a much more competitive field for the other contenders. A few weeks ago Anora was the clear favorite, now? Who knows.
On Gold Derby right now the for their professional award watcher "expert" odds for BP are a threeway tie between Anora, Wicked, and Conclave. The Brutaliist is #4 in the odds, and Emilia Perez is #5.
On Gold Derby the absolute biggest lock for any category looks to be Conclave winning Best Adapted Screenplay and it ain't close. Like 90% of people are picking it to win.
If you have to read Oscar stuff, please don't support Awards Daily. The owner (and probably the only writer left), Sasha Stone, went hard-right for Trump because she hates transgender people. She is complaining about woke in the first paragraph.
I had no clue about this, yeah I won't check out that site in general. I'll stick with Gold Derby instead.
I used to think the international film award was the worst category but apparently Frederick Wiseman had never been nominated in Documentary. What a strange decision.
All We Imagine as Light is one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year and it nowhere to be seen.
My bet is Conclave wins best picture. Seems like the most agreed upon middle of the road movie the olds like. Emilia Perez easily the biggest piece of shit that will be nominated
Conclave is winning adapted screenplay Anora is winning original screenplay Culkin is winning supporting actor Those are the sure bets I think. The rest I dunno.
still think Brutalist may be too long for some people, Oppenheimer, Titanic, and LOTR are like the only 3(+) hr recentish best picture movies
