I do hope the brutalist gets a couple wins at least. Always a bummer when a masterpiece goes home empty handed (see: Marty’s last two movies)
Brutalist doesn't come out here in Norway until next week Friday - will absolutely be seeing it opening night
I thought this even before that BAFTA win, but I definitely think Mikey Madison still has a shot in Best Actress. Reminding me a little bit of the Cillian Murphy and Michelle Yeoh wins. Lots of speculation in both of those years that Giamatti and especially Blanchett would take it, but the love for the Best Picture/Director winner pushed those performances over the top.
I think the screenplay awards are basically both locks at this point. Conclave winning Adapted and Anora winning Original.
Idk about won, but he should have definitely been nominated for Dune 2 and Blade runner for direction
Yea its kinda wild he got snubbed twice for Dune directing noms now especially considering how easy it would have been to not nominate some of the others that got in
The Oscars have an absolutely appalling track record when it comes to sci-fi, so it's really not that wild.
Speàking of, I watched Grand Theft Hamlet last night and while I still think Flow should win, it definitely deserved a nomination.
Not that it wasn’t good but much preferred Pearce in The Brutalist. The movie was fine, I didn’t just didn’t love it
if I gave it to anyone over him it would be Ed Norton, Pearce was good, Anore guy was good, Strong was good but doing way too much.
I love that Chalamet straight up said "I want to be known as one of the greatest actors of all time". Respect. Like they say in pro wrestling if you're in the business and you don't want to be the champ and the top guy you need to get out
