she’s won everything leading up, people have known her for years, and she distanced herself immediately from karla and seemingly the movie. she’s gonna win. i think it’ll be supporting actress, song and international
Social media screening shows up in a lot of even mid-level job interviews. How did no one take a few minutes to check her Twitter account before spending all that money on a campaign, let alone make the movie itself? Were there no Spanish speakers in the building?
it happens a lot on stuff like the bachelor too. just kind of baffling. even beyond the background research you'd imagine producers would do, you would think someone on the cusp of a much higher level of fame than they've dealt with before would think to delete tweets like that, even if they continue to privately believe it. foolish.
it narratively makes the most sense but i’m still holding out hope for brody or (smallest chance imaginable) colman
Anyone watching the Critica Choice Awards? Figure we can use this thread to discuss. Suffering through Chelsea Handler to see who wins haha.
i'm not watching, just looking at the results, Emilia Perez still managed to snag a few, but so did The Substance, so it's not all bad. Cool to see an Asian director winning. No big surprises and no single film really dominating the field. Love Anora is this usually the most accurate predictor for how the Oscars will go?
From what I’ve seen the voting finished for this before the EP twitter stuff came out so that wasn’t factored in here. The individual guild awards (SAG, DGA, etc.) results are also much more telling than the critics choice awards. A lot of the people in those voting bodies can also vote for the Oscars. Whereas the critics don’t vote at all.
