I watched Babygirl earlier and man Nicole Kidman was robbed of an Oscar nomination for her performance in that film, she was incredible in it!!

She's just doing what their publicists and agents are doing behind the scenes already.

I was debating finishing EP for completionist sake even though it is awful, but yeah nope.

    Jeesh, that woman is awful.

I didn't wind up hating Perez as much as I thought I would. I think there's a good-ish movie buried in there somewhere, written and directed by someone more competent. I think the musical aspect was just a complete misfire. All of the songs range from bad to awful, and they sort of, to me, make light of the very serious subject matter, whether intentionally or not.

It has no business being nominated for best picture, and it would be instantly join the ranks of "worst ever" winners if it did.

I really, really do not think it’s going to win.

it is, at worst, second of the contenders. really hope they don't pull a green book here but it would be foolish to not think it's likely.

Second what? Most likely to win? Is this golden derby gibberish again?

  21. what's the precedence for this sort of thing? can she really be disqualified from the nom?

There is no bad tweet cause for disqualification. A lot of the older voters probably agree with her anyway.

I just really think the horse race/power ranking people are getting ahead of themselves. There are like six movies still standing that could absolutely win, and Emilia Perez could just as easily go 2 for 13 as it could win Best Picture. Same with The Brutalist, which I could see winning 3 of top 4 awards, OR get entirely blanked come Oscar night. It's a weird year, and I'm not going to smash the panic button, re: Emilia, until it starts rolling guild wins.

I think, because we've had two years in a row where the top-nominated film dominated, a lot of people (pundits included) have forgotten how common it is for the most-nominated movie to do pretty badly on Oscar night. Recent examples: Power of the Dog, 1 for 12; Mank, 2 for 10; Joker, 2 for 11; Roma and The Favourite, 4 for their combined 20 nominations in 2018. And three of those movies, like Emilia Perez, are Netflix movies!

eh there are only really four contenders with a real chance left if you look at the other categories

brutalist, emilia perez, anora and a complete unknown

  25. iCarly Rae Jepsen

    run away with me Platinum

Mel Gibson was nominated and Gary Oldman won after saying similar things so no
