None of the nominees are in any of my local theaters. Just a few years ago most of them would be in theaters to the week or so after the awards.
I think I’m roughly here: Anatomy of a Fall Past Lives Killers of the Flower Moon The Zone of Interest Barbie Oppenheimer The Holdovers Poor Things American Fiction Maestro I like every nominee this year though.
The Zone of Interest Poor Things Anatomy of a Fall Oppenheimer Killers of a Flower Moon The Holdovers American Fiction Barbie Maestro I still need to finish Past Lives
1A. Killers of the Flower Moon 1B. The Zone of Interest 3. Anatomy of a Fall 4. Past Lives 5. Barbie 6. Oppenheimer 7. The Holdovers 8. Maestro 9. Poor Things 10. American Fiction It is really a huge drop after the first two, though.
As it stands now on GoldDerby American Fiction is the favorite for adapted screenplay and Anatomy of a Fall is favorite for Original Screenplay
Zone Killers Barbie Past lives Atonomy Oppenihmer Poor things might watch holdovers not interested in Maestro or American Fiction
1. Poor Things 2. Killers of the Flower Moon 3. Barbie 4. Maestro 5. Oppenheimer 6. Anatomy of a Fall 7. The Holdovers 8. The Zone of Interest 9. Past Lives 10. American Fiction I genuinely loved all 10 though. Really great set of films.
I heard the take "The Holdovers is a movie that is about Covid without being about Covid" and it kinda blew my mind.
It's a movie about the relationships and bonds people form after being unexpectedly isolated together Josh
I didn’t really feel that with The Holdovers (although I don’t think it’s a totally far-fetched reading of the movie), but I definitely did with Asteroid City.
The Holdovers is about Payne going back to the formula that made him famous after he almost destroyed his career with the tiny Matt Damon movie.
