Didn’t see coda but don’t look up is an absolute joke. Also enjoyed king Richard way more than I thought I would.
Nightmare Alley has grown on me a bit. Dune still feels like half a movie and that ending being so anticlimactic really puts a small twinge of sour taste in my mouth.
I know that. I’ve read the books. I basically can’t rate it any higher in that group because it is literally half of a movie. It’s the limitation of releasing films in parts. But on the other hand I’ve seen plenty of films (Lord of the Rings) that are perfect chapters. The end of Dune is kind of a sad trombone tbh.
Dune does deserve some criticism for ending the way it did. It is important to remember that there was no guarantee of a Dune 2, especially since releasing a blockbuster in 2021 was such a gamble.
The worst musical cue I can remember is when a character is literally injecting heroin in the film Killing Them Softly the Velvet Underground song Heroin starts. How did you not think any deeper than that?
