Alright I think you’re all proving the point by citing Hancock and the third bad boys movie lol

 

Also I hope nothing interesting ever happens again at the Oscars because this has gone from humorous to please I can’t take any more discourse around something so insignificant

 

Damn I loved pursuit, pounds, and bad boys 3. My opinions are generally garbage though, so feel free to move on.

 

Middle school me loved I Am Legend. Also I, Robot and the first half of Hancock

Pursuit of Happyness is horrific tragedy porn oscar bait, just awful

Holy shit I thought the 15 years thing was hyperbole but he really hasn't been in a good movie since 2007

 

I’ve never went out of my way to ever watch a Will Smith movie


But also, I hope he goes out of his way to try to win an oscar for the next decade now lol

it was pretty good, basically a more comprehensible and less transgressive bad boys. leaves the first two in the dust

 

I remember as Jaden got older, and I guess the same with Willow too, it basically became a meme to make fun of how obnoxiously pretentious they were (esp Jaden’s Twitter a couple years ago), but it so much sense once you realize Will and Jada are themselves both obsessed with New Age bullshit. Poor kids didn’t have a chance

I legitimately forgot Seven Pounds was a movie. Wow.

 

Seven Pounds has one of the great A.O. Scott pans of all time.

When you watch something like Ali you wonder what could have been if Smith had been interested in more than being a movie star. He has the money and now he has the award, so maybe now he steps outside of the comfort zone? Even Sandler comes out once every few years.

 

Smith’s run from 95-07 (with the sole exception of Bagger Vance) is pretty impressive in terms of not making any Movies That Didn’t Actually Happen. And only two of those were sequels. The man just had that much star power. How many other actors have had a similar run?

 

I still watch Independence Day probably once a year
