This has happened to Chris Rock so many times, just in different settings

 

I think the worst things I ever witnessed growing up were:

• A middle aged school cop putting a tiny 12 year old girl in a chokehold in the 6th grade.
• A very heated racially charged 6 on 6 fight between black kids and Hot Topic trenchoat Nazis during lunch in the 9th grade.
• a bar brawl at a show where a bunch of my friends bands were playing when i was 17. Three or four coked up 30 year olds tried to pick a fight with us. Ended with like 10 punk teenagers wearing steel toed boots stomping on a grown man in the parking lot. My friend broke a bottle over a guy's head, a few girls in our friend group got hit with pool cues. It was bad.

and even those I think are pretty mild compared to what other people experience.

 

I just broke up a fight in the hallway a few weeks ago and the teacher next to me was like frozen scared as he watched through his door. Then he came out and said "I...I never...that was my first". It was wild!

 

i remember seeing two dudes from the marching band set down their huge bass drums to start wailing on each other and then when the one dude finished beating ass he said “don’t ever tell me you’re first chair again”

i don’t think i’ve stopped laughing since

 

I remember in middle school a guy in my grade was pretending to punch someone in gym, slipped and broke his arm. That was traumatizing to see his arm go in a direction it shouldn’t.

I remember two of the biggest strongest dudes (who were brothers) fighting eachother so hard that they were literally picking up desks over their head and throwing them across the room. They got into an argument because the jock took the nerds seat lol

I've watched a lot of Worldstar fight compilations on YouTube. Does that count?

I've fought multiple people on these boards, multiple times, lost every single time

 

Alright, so in light of all the new evidence in this thread, and learning that kids are slapping kids, and kids are slapping teachers, and that this was not in fact a never before seen display of aggression, I've been convinced to change my weak ass opinion and move on from the whole ordeal and try to find inner peace in what has been a troubling few days (nightmares, leaping at shadows etc).

Whose got any predictions for 2023 best picture noms? I'd like to see recognition for either Men / Nope / Disappointment Blvd (if each lives up to their respective hypes and are reviewed well). Each has a stacked cast and great directors telling original stories.

Though I did enjoy the burn about Don't Look Up and the academy not looking up reviews. I just googled it and I'm surprised to find so many stinkers by critic score still getting nommed, I never knew that was the case.

 

I don’t find any fault with people being uncomfortable with a person violently hitting another person, in fact I think that event can be triggering for people who have witnessed or suffered abuse. I just think for the most part the handwringing over the incident is entirely overblown and eye rolling, and the people most vocal are coming at this with a bad faith agenda. The more curious and comical elements are left behind, like how does the academy not intervene at at all and let Will Smith just go back to his seat and eventually accept an award lol he just slapped a presenter and yelled f bombs at your event and you’re just like well ok let’s move on. We should be laughing at the academy but instead we’ve been forced back into the culture wars and it’s no fun at all.

 

In the 5th grade i got jumped by a couple of middle schoolers while i was rollerblading, and quickly found out if you get into a fight while on rollerblades you're pretty much fucked because you can't do anything.
