The assumption people are making is that no one has experience with people with such an issue, or even worse with people who’s hair loss comes at a greater risk with major health issues at stake such a chemotherapy patients. You can place great value on your appearance in life, or be very self conscious, but you can’t send your spouse or have them willfully go attack every person that doesn’t approve of how you look or every person that teases you, even if your appearance is due to a medical reason. There are people who battle physical disabilities or have conditions, or have suffered life altering injuries to their body who have more humility and perspective on how to handle things then what was on display at the Oscars. You’d think on a night so important in their families lives, they could let anything stupid comment roll off their back and walk away celebrated by fans for Will’s accomplishment instead of tinting the night for everyone. Also, have some perspective on the world and privilege you have being part of the Hollywood elite. Go talk to Chris later, or even stand up from your seat and tell for Chris to apologize. A bad alopecia joke doesn’t warrant Will Smith’s response.
Wow I got so swept up in the slap that I didn’t even see the real true worst takes of the night: people upset for Kirsten Dunst because they are too dumb to understand a written and rehearsed joke
i was more upset the producers were not quick enough on their feet to have jesse plemons make a joke about it
You're telling everyone else they're reaching, but somehow think that Chris Rock was taking the plot of the movie into account when he made an off the cuff hair comment and that it was a compliment in some way because of the characters arc? GI Jane = woman who shaves her head, aint much more to it. I honestly believe he had no idea about the cut being related to a health issue, and was just mocking her appearance. Either way, that makes it in poor taste as the only reaction to that being a joke (if it was a style choice), is haha she looks dumb so it was a mean spirited remark anyway. I'm with you on a few small things that you're saying, but man, you're also incredibly far off base.
He made a joke at her expensive on live television in front of millions of people. You're willfully being an ass
Lol Tony Hawk is on Instagram saying that walking on stage without his cane was the second most uncomfortable moment of the show for him
* I said I would stop I said I would stop I said I would stop I said I wou— * jesus fucking christ @.K. I never thought I’d literally wish I were in college TAing LGIC310/PHIL410 again, but here I am thinking about how I absolutely could have burned a whole 50-minute recitation or more on having freshmen break down your latest offering, which I assume was constructed in a lab for maximum facepalmability.
It's the person who was posting about how Scott Borchetta is a good person because of their experiences with him and ignoring all the women calling them out when the Taylor Swift owning her masters stuff was happening, if that helps.
Look, I can admit that this is a little dramatic but — @.K. made that last post in the context of explicit and respectful appeals to understand the part racism plays in this whole thing. I don’t know the first thing about doing Jason’s job, but I do know that I don’t see any excuse for the way a conceptual and moral boundary has been acknowledged and then flouted here.
Just immediately blocked someone this morning because they felt like they HAD to give their opinion, that always turns out well lol
