Every best picture nom this year is better than the 2018 murderer's row of Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody & Vice
It takes a force of nature and unbelievable hype for something from Neon or A24 to get nominated, so “Pig” and “The Green Knight” snubs are not surprising.
I'm not surprised, but Denzel Washington's nom for Macbeth feels like such a waste. I do get it, though I didn't love his choices. But the people snubbed in part because of it..
Am I wrong for thinking Jesse Plemmons' nomination is kind of weird? I feel like he does nothing more than his usual schtick in The Power of the Dog tbh, I don't see what was so special this time around.
It would be hilarious if Don't Look Up won. I cannot imagine how insufferable McKay's speech would be.
maybe it'll lead him to create the most hysterically awful film in recent memory, same with that guy who directed the king's speech
Don't Look Up was pretty reviled on places like this but it fits Hollywood liberal smugness about climate change like a glove. I have no idea what the favorite is but it is their type of movie.
I don’t see how you can say the favorite is anything but Power of the Dog right now. Obviously that could change but it’s the only thing that didn’t miss in anything it was expected for, and actually overperformed with the Plemons and Dunst noms.
Branagh is the odd one out of the group but he wasn't going to not get nominated, sadly. Villenueve should be there, or Trier, or Coen, or Del Toro, or Miranda (seriously), or a bunch of other people.
