It was a very strong year for Best Actress and of course the Academy went for two of the lowest hanging fruit. I’ll just consider Kidman’s nom one for her role in the AMC ad.

Belfast was on my watchlist and then I just kind of forgot about it. I need to get on that.

 

It's probably not gonna win anything but Drive My Car deserves everything

 

If this means Drive My Car gets to play in a local theater, maybe this years' Oscars can be forgiven.

Kush getting snubbed is another huge travesty here for sure. His adaptation of West Side Story was inspired.

The virgin 2021 Suicide Squad with zero oscar noms and bombing at the box office vs the chad 2016 Suicide Squad with an oscar win and huge box office success

 

Man Jodie Comer really should be in Best Actress over Kidman too

 

Worst snubs for me are Green Knight, The Last Duel, The French Dispatch and Benedetta

 

It'll probably win International Feature with the Best Picture/Director nominations, unless The Worst Person in the World pulls an upset.

 

power of the dog is gonna run the table and, while i like the movie a lot, it’s going to be a disaster for this institution

so @Morrissey should be rooting for that to happen

 

The Power of the Dog is well-made, but I'm so completely removed from any sort of emotional attachment to it. I feel the same way about Nomadland, last year's frontrunner/big winner, though I liked that a little more. It has me super lethargic going into this Oscars race.

right. there are much worse movies that could realistically win but this one specifically winning would be horrible for the Oscars being something people, even nominally so, care about

 

Licorice Pizza doesn't have a shot so I'll be happy with Power of the Dog winning, can't be mad when one of your top 10 movies of the year beats another one just because the other one is higher on the list.
