Are you one of those dummies? Chris Rock not wanting to press charges in no way stops the police/prosecutors from charging someone if they want
lol i've been joking with a friend all night about this and out of no where he pops off 3 or 4 tweets about how will smith is wimp and he would have killed will smith if he were chris rock
Lol sorry just to be clear: I agree with you that they very likely won't do anything like that unless Rock asks them to do it. But in terms of whether they could, they technically don't need a cooperative victim in a case where they have independent evidence of the crime (which could be documented evidence or even just another cooperative witness who could speak to whether it happened). And really in tons of cases, prosecutors will still charge someone even if the victim is the only source of evidence and doesn't want it to be charged, and will try to wait until basically it's called to trial to finally dismiss it if the victim is uncooperative But when it comes to something high profile like this, yeah DAs are very conscious about public opinion and are definitely inclined to simply use their discretion to not charge Smith if the victim himself just wants to let it rest.
I mean it is funny that it happened but do you guys really think Chris Rock comes out of this looking worse than Will Smith? I am genuinely kind of surprised by the reaction in here
From the majority I’ve seen on Reddit and Twitter, yeah. A lot of “Will is a cuck” “it was just a joke” “his feelings were hurt” I was surprised by the support Chris is getting. A lot of it seems to be from the crowd that hates Jada and uses the word “cuck” often in their vocabulary. Then again it seems like every comedian gets a pass to be a dick just because “comedy.”
There is no reason Will needed to walk on the stage and strike another man in the face on live television over a joke (even if it was in poor taste) and then use the memory of the father of the Williams sisters in his speech to try to justify it while also claiming he's a "vessel for love" or whatever weird shit he was saying I don't care about the details of Smith's marriage so it doesn't affect my opinion but resorting to actual physical violence was completely uncalled for and set a horrible example
I can't describe the contentment that comes with not watching or thinking about the Oscars at all and seeing the next morning just how mercilessly stupid the bullet I dodged was
