I thought they gave out preshow awards cause there wasn’t time for them? But then they showed it anyway?
Watching this I'm thinking if the Oscars wanted to stay relevant and boost ratings they should've leaned into the nuances and technicalities of film criticism and present ALL the awards, but repackage it all as a reality contest almost. I would ditch the celebrity presenters reading from the teleprompter and replace that with actual members of the academy deliberating for 3-5 min, speaking their rationale for their final pick and then announce the winner Like how are YouTube film critics successful with the target audience (I guess?) they are trying to capture and the Oscars, the most prestige film criticism event possibly, drops in ratings every year?
