Oh shit I totally forgot it won DGA. My bad. But to be fair, there was zero other competition in that category. Cuaron always had director locked up.

 

If Parasite wins the WGA this weekend, I would still consider it a more than viable contender.

 

The nice thing is even if Parasite doesn’t win best picture, I think it’s a pretty solid pick for three, if not four wins:

Production design
Editing
MAYBE original screenplay, though if it wins this it’s BP chances shoot up.

 

After seeing Parasite last week, I wish at least someone got an acting nom, particularly the actor playing the dad

 

gold derby has betting odds for 1917 at 11/2 and parasite 6/1. it's hardly a done deal. it winning wouldn't be a shock in the same sense something like marriage story, or FvF, would be

The Irishman, and Hollywood better sweep. I Know they won’t.

I don’t think Jojo is winning anything.

Joker will win score and (ugh) best actor, not sure about anything else.

 

yeah, that's where i'm at still too. it wouldn't shock me if jojo got screenplay too, even though that would suck

 

They need to have a category for best on screen death and on screen drug/alcohol reaction thus The Lighthouse, Hollywood, and Midsommar can all be in on the marbles.

 

I said this before I think, but I don't think Jojo wins anything. I was honestly surprised it got as many nominations as it did.

 

The nomination I can't get over is Scarlett Johansson in Jojo. There was nothing special about that performance. Zero.

Yeah Thomasin would honestly make my five, and not just out of the likely choices. She’s great in that movie.

 

Florence Pugh supporting actress for Little Women is probably the only one I’m gonna be actually mad about if she doesn’t win

 

she has no shot. laura dern has had it locked up for months and, honestly, good for her. she is fantastic.

 

Dern deserves an Oscar as just a general career recognition award but in a movie like Marriage Story where everyone is showing off their acting chops she really didn't blow me away the way Pugh does in LW

her character executed as a martyr I think was the main takeaway as why she’s been getting nominated from various awards shows

the hype for scarjo in jojo is purely from the scene when she plays both herself and cosplays jojo’s dad. it’s absurd she was nominated and j lo wasnt.

I like Billie Eilish a lot, but she is gonna face an oversaturation issue REAL quick.

 

yeah, like, so what, she's going to perform it this year and then perform it again next year when it inevitably gets nominated for Best Original Song? This move makes no sense whatsoever on their part.
