I havent seen parasite green book ot artist...probably wont ever watch green book or artist. Out of all of the winners. Man yeah I'll probably go.. 12 years a slave Birdman (my favorite year for the Oscar's as I also loved Budapest and boyhood) Idk. After that I feel like I think of the rest as all "okay to good" movies. Shape of water Moonlight Kings speech Argo Spotlight. Definitely agree social network and mad max were snubbed. I loved irishman and hollywood if parasite is indeed better than both and 1917 is solid, than this might go down as the best oscar year of the decade
I also always reflect on la la land and think that I liked it and it was great and had great iconic set pieces etc But it's really just me saying I liked Emma Stones song and the intro song and that's really it
Unrelated - I feel bad that the "How to Train Your Dragon" franchise got shut out all three times by Disney/Pixar.
I think this would hold up a little better if Jojo Rabbit were more of a traditional comedy in the vein of what Phillips is referring to.
What do you mean? I'm just saying that The Hangover and Jojo Rabbit can't really be compared... And Phillips is talking about movies like The Hangover in his quote.
No he isn’t lol all he said was “Go try to be funny nowadays with this woke culture,” Phillips told VF. “There were articles written about why comedies don’t work anymore — I’ll tell you why, because all the fucking funny guys are like, ‘Fuck this shit, because I don’t want to offend you.’” His premise is no “funny guys” (has to be guys also, of course) want to make comedy that is potentially offensive because of “woke culture”, and Jojo Rabbit disproves that premise pretty handily. So it’s a fair point to make in that tweet.
tl;dr Phillips is crying because he can’t make movies where people blithely say the F-slur anymore without getting criticized for it. Boo hoo you goddamn hack.
I don't know... I mean I think we are talking apples and oranges here in regards to the films and who/how they would "offend".
I don’t see how that could be the case, seems like a pretty clear general blanket dumb/wrong statement, but ok
Moonlight Parasite Spotlight Birdman Argo 12 Years a Slave The Shape of Water The King's Speech Green Book The Artist
I need to rewatch moonlight one day. I recall really liking it but I dont really remember that much about it. Didnt really have a lasting effect for me which is why I dont rate it that high
Luke Perry was not in the In Memoriam even though he was in one of the Best Picture nominees. That makes no sense.
