I'm attempting on watching about 4 movies from the best picture noms by tomorrow night, I think I can do it. I have Parasite, Marriage Story, Little Women and 1917 to go. My favorite is still Hollywood (I don't think it will get topped for me personally, we'll see). I've enjoyed them all except Jojo Rabbit.

I have put off Marriage Story mostly because I plan on proposing to my GF sometime this year and she REALLY wants to watch it, I just am afraid it will be awkward to watch with her. Is it totally a downer? Thoughts on this?

 

If you think a movie is gonna have an effect on your relationship you should re-examine things.

I don't think it's a total downer. If anything it's a good sign of things to be careful of in your relationship.

 

The response I was looking for, thank you. It's not that we won't watch it, I'm just trying to prioritize what I can fit in by tomorrow night. Parasite being at the top of that list.

 

It was my favourite film of last year so I would highly recommend it! ha.

I’d probably tie it with Parasite but all of the big five are extremely good. If they subbed Jojo and Joker for any combination of Lighthouse, Midsommar and/or Gems this would be a near perfect year imo

Parasite, Irishman, Marriage Story, and Little Women are elite. For some reason I have Hollywood just a hair below their tier personally but that whole class is absurdly good. So of course Birdman 2: World War I is going to win

 

I truly can't imagine Marriage Story being better than Parasite and The Irishman

 

consider watching it and finding out

 

For me, Parasite was so much better than Marriage Story.

 

Really considering renting Parasite on Amazon Prime tomorrow before the show.....

I already know The Host is one of my favorite films ever so why not!?

 

If you go in without irony poisoning, Marriage Story is one of the most beautiful and affecting things you’re gonna see in a long time
